THE WORK REQUIRED UNDER THIS DIVISION SHALL INCLUDE ALL MATERIALS, LABOR, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, TRANSPORTATION, INSURANCE, <br />TEMPORARY PROTECTION, TEMPORARY LIGHTING, SUPERVISION AND INCIDENTAL ITEMS ESSENTIAL FOR PROPER INSTALLATION AND OPERATION, <br />EVEN THOUGH NOT SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED OR INDICATED BUT WHICH ARE USUALLY PROVIDED OR ARE ESSENTIAL FOR PROPER <br />INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REQUIRED UNDER THIS DIVISION CONSISTS BASICALLY <br />OF, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: LIGHTING SYSTEM, POWER SYSTEM, ALARM SYSTEM, POWER DISTRIBUTION, EQUIPMENT <br />CONNECTIONS, ACCESS PANELS, EMPTY CONDUIT SYSTEMS AND ALL REQUIRED WIRING. <br />2. GIVE ALL NOTICES, FILE ALL PLANS, PAY ALL FEES, OBTAIN ALL PERMITS, ALL LICENSES, INSPECTIONS, RE -INSPECTIONS AND APPROVALS <br />FROM AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION. INCLUDE ALL FEES IN THE BID <br />3. A. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS CALLED TO THE FACT THAT WORK INVOLVED IS IN CONNECTION WITH EXISTING BUILDINGS WHICH REMAIN IN <br />OPERATION WHILE WORK IS BEING PERFORMED. WORK MUST BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PRIORITY SCHEDULE. SCHEDULE <br />WORK FOR A MINIMUM OUTAGE TO OWNER. CONTRACTOR SHALL CLOSELY COORDINATE WITH THE HOSPITAL PRIOR TO COMMENCING <br />WORK AND DURING CONSTRUCTION FOR POWER ANDIOR SYSTEM OUTAGES AS WELL AS GENERAL REQUIREMENTS. RECEIVE WRITTEN <br />ACCEPTANCE FROM THE OWNER NO LATER THAN 7 DAYS IN ADVANCE OF ALL POWER OUTAGES. CONTRACTOR SHALL WORK DURING <br />OFF HOURS (EVENINGS & WEEKENDS) WHEN DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE HOSPITAL. PROTECT EXISTING BUILDINGS AND EQUIPMENT <br />DURING CONSTRUCTION. <br />B. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY IF THERE IS ANY PIPING, FIXTURES OR OTHER ITEMS IN THE EXISTING BUILDING WHICH MUST BE REMOVED <br />OR RELOCATED IN ORDER TO PERFORM THE ALTERATION WORK. BID SHALL INCLUDE ALL REMOVAL AND RELOCATION REQUIRED FOR <br />COMPLETION OF THE ALTERATIONS AND THE NEW CONSTRUCTION. <br />C. ALL EXISTINGINEW CONDUIT AND CABLES WITHIN THE AREA OF RENOVATION SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH PROPER SUPPORTS. <br />D. ALL EXISTING ELECTRICAL WHICH IS DESIGNATED FOR REWORKING OR REQUIRES RELOCATION, REPAIR OR ADJUSTMENT SHALL CONFORM <br />TO ALL APPLICABLE CODES AND SHALL BE TREATED AS NEW WORK COMPLYING TO ALL PARTS OF THIS SPECIFICATION. <br />E. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL REQUIRED PROGRAMMING FOR CONNECTION TO EXISTING SYSTEMS INCLUDING BUT NOT <br />LIMITED TO FIRE ALARM AND NURSE CALL. <br />4. ALL MATERIALS SHALL BE NEW AND FREE OF DEFECTS, AND SHALL BE U.L. LISTED, BEAR THE U.L. LABEL OR BE LABELED OR LISTED WITH <br />AN APPROVED, NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ELECTRICAL TESTING AGENCY, WHERE NO LABELING OR LISTING SERVICE IS AVAILABLE FOR <br />CERTAIN TYPES OF EQUIPMENT, TEST DATA SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO PROVE TO THE ENGINEER THAT EQUIPMENT MEETS OR EXCEEDS <br />AVAILABLE STANDARDS, AFTER TEST DATA IS SUBMITTED AND TENTATIVELY APPROVED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PAY FOR ANY REQUIRED <br />FIELD LUSTING ANDIOR CORRECTIVE WORK REQUIRED BY THE FIELD LISTING INSPECTOR IF ALLOWED BY THE AHJ. <br />5. PROVIDE SHOP DRAWING SUBMITTALS TO THE ARCHITECTIENGINEER FOR APPROVAL FOR ALL MATERIAL PROVIDED UNDER THIS DIVISION. <br />EQUIPMENT SHALL NOT BE ORDERED PRIOR TO APPROVAL FROM THE ARCHITECTIENGINEER. <br />6. COORDINATION STUDY: ALL PANELBOARD AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS SHALL MATCH THE EXISTING TYPE, AIC RATING, AND MANUFACTURER. ANY <br />DISCREPANCIES OR CONFLICTS IN THE SPECIFIED EQUIPMENT SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER DURING BID FOR <br />FORMAL CLARIFICATION. <br />7. PROVIDE AND INSTALL ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND ANY NECESSARY ACCESSORIES AS PER NEC AND LOCAL CODES WHETHER SPECIFIED <br />HEREIN OR SHOWN ON DRAWINGS OR NOT. THE CONTENT OF THESE SPECIFICATIONS (DIVISION 26) AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS IN GENERAL <br />ONLY REFERS TO WORK REQUIRED ABOVE AND BEYOND THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE NEC AND LOCAL CODES. <br />8. DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC. COORDINATE FINAL EQUIPMENT LOCATIONS WITH GOVERNING ARCHITECTURAL AND STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS. <br />LAY OUT BEFORE INSTALLATION SO THAT ALL TRADES MAY INSTALL EQUIPMENT IN SPACES AVAILABLE. PROVIDE COORDINATION AS <br />REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION IN A NEAT AND WORKMANLIKE MANNER. <br />9. CHECK SITE AND EXISTING CONDITIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE BIDDING. ADVISE ENGINEER OF DISCREPANCIES OR QUESTIONS NOTED. WHERE <br />EXISTING CONDITIONS ARE DISCOVERED WHICH ARE NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE CODES AND STANDARDS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL <br />SUBMIT PROPER DOCUMENTATION TO THE ARCHITECT FOR CLARIFICATION AND CORRECTIVE WORK DIRECTION. EXISTING <br />CONDITIONS SHALL NOT REMAIN WHICH WILL CREATE A DISAPPROVAL OF THE RENOVATED AREA. <br />10. ALL EXISTING CONDUIT AND CABLE PENETRATIONS SHALL BE PROPERLY FIRE TREATED PER CODE AND SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS. THE <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL THOROUGHLY INSPECT ALL EXISTING LOCATIONS AND INCLUDE THE COST OF PATCHING AND REPAIR IN HIS PROPOSED <br />CONSTRUCTION COST. <br />11. PROVIDE FIELD SUPERINTENDENT WHO HAS HAD A MINIMUM OF FOUR (4) YEARS PREVIOUS SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE ON PROJECTS OF <br />COMPARABLE SIZES AND COMPLEXITY. SUPERINTENDENT SHALL BE PRESENT AT ALL TIMES THAT WORK UNDER THIS DIVISION IS BEING <br />INSTALLED OR AFFECTED. SUPERINTENDENT SHALL HAVE PASSED A PROCTORED H.H. BLOCK JOURNEYMAN EXAM WITH 75% GRADE OR <br />BETTER AND SHALL BE A LICENSED JOURNEYMAN. A RESUME OF THE SUPERINTENDENTS EXPERIENCE SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO ENGINEER <br />BEFORE STARTING WORK. AT LEAST ONE MEMBER OF THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING FIRM SHALL HOLD A STATE MASTER CERTIFICATE OF <br />COMPETENCY. <br />12. PROVIDE ALL REQUIRED COORDINATION AND SUPERVISION WHERE WORK CONNECTS TO OR IS AFFECTED BY WORK OF OTHERS, AND COMPLY <br />WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS AFFECTING THIS DIVISION. <br />13. SUITABLY PROTECT ALL EQUIPMENT FURNISHED UNDER THIS DIVISION DURING CONSTRUCTION. RESTORE ALL DAMAGED SURFACES AND <br />ITEMS TO 'LIKE NEW CONDITION BEFORE A REQUEST FOR SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION INSPECTION. <br />14. THE WORK REQUIRED UNDER THIS DIVISION SHALL INCLUDE A ONE-YEAR GUARANTEE. THIS GUARANTEE SHALL BE BY THE CONTRACTOR TO <br />THE OWNER FOR ANY DEFECTIVE WORKMANSHIP OR MATERIAL WHICH HAS BEEN FURNISHED UNDER THIS CONTRACT AT NO COST TO THE <br />OWNER FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION OF THE SYSTEM. THIS GUARANTEE SHALL NOT <br />INCLUDE LAMPS IN SERVICE. THE PROVISIONS OF GUARANTEE TO THE OWNER AT THE "DEMONSTRATION OF COMPLETED AFTER ONE MONTH <br />FROM DATE OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION OF THE SYSTEM.' <br />15. PERFORM VERIFICATION WORK AS REQUIRED TO SHOW THAT THE SYSTEM IS OPERATING CORRECTLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT <br />DOCUMENTS AND MANUFACTURER'S LITERATURE. ALL VERIFICATION SHALL BE DONE AFTER 3-DAY FULL OPERATIONAL PERIOD. ALL WORK <br />ON THE SYSTEM SHALL BE COMPLETED, AND ALL FORMS AND OTHER INFORMATION SHALL. BE SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL ONE WEEK <br />BEFORE THE REQUEST FOR FINAL INSPECTION OF THE BUILDING. <br />16. WHERE THE REQUIREMENTS OF ANOTHER DIVISION, SECTION, OR PART OF THESE SPECIFICATIONS EXCEED THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS <br />DIVISION, THOSE REQUIREMENTS SHALL GOVERN. <br />17. THE ENTIRE INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN HOT DIPPED RIGID GALVANIZED CONDUIT, OR ELECTRIC METALLIC TUBING, UNLESS SPECIFICALLY <br />NOTED OTHERWISE. RIGID METAL GALVANIZED CONDUIT SHALL BE USED IN ALL DAMP OR WET LOCATIONS OR WHERE SUBJECT TO <br />MECHANICAL DAMAGE. ELECTRIC METALLIC TUBING SHALL HAVE STEEL COMPRESSION TYPE COUPLINGS AND BE USED INSIDE OF BUILDINGS <br />AND ONLY IN DRY AREAS WHERE NOT EXPOSED TO MECHANICAL DAMAGE. MINIMUM CONDUIT SIZE FOR ALL SYSTEMS SHALL BE 3/4'. <br />PROVIDE INSULATED BUSHINGS AT ENDS OF ALL CONDUITS. ALL CONDUITS AND BACKBOXES SHALL BE COLOR CODED TO MATCH EXISTING <br />HOSPITAL STANDARDS. SUPPORT CONDUIT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NEC. LISTED WHIPS FOR LIGHTING FIXTURES SHALL BE ALLOWED NO <br />LONGER THAN V-0' IN LENGTH. <br />18. BRANCH CIRCUIT AND FEEDER CONDUCTORS FOR ELECTRIC POWER SHALL BE COPPER TYPE THHNITHWN INSULATION FOR BRANCH <br />CIRCUITS AND THWN INSULATION FOR FEEDERS, UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED OTHERWISE. SIZES #12 AND SMALLER SHALL BE SOLID, #10 <br />AND LARGER STRANDED. NO ALUMINUM WIRING SHALL BE PERMITTED. ALL WIRE SHALL BE SIZE SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. IF NO SIZE IS <br />SHOWN, WIRE SHALL BE MINIMUM NO. 12, EXCEPT THAT BRANCH 'HOMERUNS' OVER 50 FT. IN LENGTH SHALL BE MINIMUM NO. 10.
