<br />1. CONTRACTOR SHALL VISIT THE SITE PRIOR TO START OF
<br />WORK TO OBSERVE THE EXISTING TREES AND VERIFY SUITABILITY
<br />FOR PRESERVATION AS SHOWN.
<br />2. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING ALL PERMITS
<br />RELATED TO TREE REMOVAL.
<br />3. IF THERE IS ANY DOUBT ABOUT THE CONDITION OF A TREE,
<br />PHOTOGRAPH THE TREE AND THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM. SEND

<br />5. TREE PROTECTIVE BARRIERS SHALL BE IN PLACE PRIOR TO
<br />THE START OF ANY DEMOLITION OR CONSTRUCTION.
<br />6. TREES TO BE REMOVED SHALL BE FELLED SO AS TO FALL
<br />AWAY FROM TREE PROTECTION ZONES AND TO AVOID PULLING
<br />AND BREAKING ROOTS OF TREES TO REMAIN. IF ROOTS ARE
<br />ENTWINED, FIRST SEVER THE MAJOR WOODY ROOT MASS BEFORE
<br />FELLING. USE ROOT PRUNING EQUIPMENT AND METHODS TO
<br />CUT THE ROOTS.
<br />7. ALL TREES RECEIVING ROOT PRUNING SHALL BE WATERED
<br />EVERY 3 WEEKS TO A SOIL DEPTH OF 3 FEET, USING
<br />TEMPORARY MEANS AND METHODS. THE ARBORIST COMPANY
<br />ENGAGED FOR TREE CARE SHALL EVALUATE THE TREES AT
<br />3-WEEK INTERVALS TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE WATER
<br />SCHEDULE OR QUANTITY NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED.
<br />8. UNDERSTORY PLANTS WITHIN PROTECTIVE BARRIERS SHALL
<br />BE PROTECTED UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.
<br />9. NO EXCESS OIL, FILL, EQUIPMENT, BUILDING MATERIALS. OR
<br />BUILDING DEBRIS SHALL BE PLACED WITHIN THE AREAS
<br />SURROUNDED BY PROTECTIVE BARRIERS, NOR SHALL THERE BE
<br />DISPOSAL OF ANY WASTE MATERIAL SUCH AS PAINTS, OILS,
<br />SOLVENTS, ASPHALT, CONCRETE, MORTAR, OR ANY OTHER
<br />MATERIAL HARMFUL TO TREES OR UNDERSTORY PLANTS WITHIN
<br />THE AREAS SURROUNDED BY PROTECTIVE BARRIERS,
<br />10. TREES SHALL NOT BE BRACED IN SUCH A FASHION AS TO
<br />SCAR, PENETRATE, PERFORATE, OR OTHERWISE INFLICT DAMAGE
<br />TO THE TREE.
<br />11. NATURAL GRADE SHALL BE MAINTAINED WITHIN PROTECTIVE
<br />BARRIERS.
<br />12. UNDERGROUND UTILITIES SHALL BE PLACED OUTSIDE THE
<br />AREAS SURROUNDED BY PROTECTIVE BARRIERS. IF SAID
<br />PLACEMENT IS NOT POSSIBLE, DISTURBANCE SHALL BE MINIMIZED
<br />BY USING TECHNIQUES SUCH AS TUNNELING OR OVERHEAD
<br />UTILITY LINES.
<br />13. FENCES AND WALLS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED TO AVOID
<br />DISTURBANCE OF ANY PROTECTED TREE. POST HOLES AND
<br />TRENCHES LOCATED CLOSE TO TREES SHALL BE HAND DUG AND
<br />ADJUSTED AS NECESSARY, USING TECHNIQUES SUCH AS
<br />DISCONTINUOUS FOOTINGS TO AVOID DAMAGE TO MAJOR ROOTS.
<br />14. MAINTAIN THE INTEGRITY OF TREE PROTECTION MEASURES
<br />THROUGHOUT THE PERIOD OF CONSTRUCTION.
<br />15. ANY PRESERVED TREES DAMAGED OR DESTROYED BY
<br />CONSTRUCTION OR CONSTRUCTION -RELATED ACTIVITIES ARE THE
<br />RESPONSIBIUTY OF THE CONTRACTOR. LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
<br />SHALL DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE AND SHALL DIRECT
<br />ANY REMEDIAL OR REPLACEMENT ACTIONS TO BE CONDUCTED BY
<br />THE CONTRACTOR. THIS WORK SHALL BE DONE AT NO COST TO
<br />OWNER OR CONSULTANTS, IN FULL COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE
<br />CODES.
<br />TREE PRUNING NOTES
<br />1. ALL PRUNING SHALL BE PERFORMED BY, OR UNDER THE
<br />SUPERVISION OF, AN ISA-CERTIFIED ARSORIST.
<br />2. ALL PRUNING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE IRU
<br />PRUNING GUIDELINES (ISA) AND/OR ANSI A300 PRUNING
<br />STANDARD (AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARD FOR TREE CARE
<br />OPERATIONS).
<br />3. ALL TREES TO REMAIN WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION ZONE
<br />SHALL BE PRUNED TO:
<br />A. CLEAR THE CROWN OF DISEASED, CROSSING, WEAK, AND
<br />DEAD WOOD TO A MINIMUM SIZE OF 1-1/2" DIAMETER.
<br />B- PROVIDE 14' OF VERTICAL CLEARANCE OVER STREETS AND
<br />8' OVER SIDEWALKS.
<br />C. REMOVE STUBS, CUTTING OUTSIDE THE WOUNDWOOD
<br />TISSUE THAT HAS FORMED AROUND THE BRANCH.
<br />D. REDUCE END WEIGHT ON HEAVY, HORIZONTAL BRANCHES
<br />BY SELECTIVELY REMOVING SMALL DIAMETER BRANCHES, NO
<br />GREATER THAN 2 TO 3 INCHES, NEAR THE ENDS OF THE
<br />BRANCHES.
<br />4. WHERE TEMPORARY CLEARANCE IS NEEDED FOR ACCESS,
<br />BRANCHES SHALL BE TIED BACK TO HOLD THEM OUT OF THE
<br />CLEARANCE ZONE.
<br />5. INTERIOR BRANCHES SHALL NOT BE STRIPPED OUT
<br />6. PRUNING CUTS LARGER THAN 4", EXCEPT FOR DEAD WOOD

<br />9. BRUSH SHALL BE CHIPPED AND CHIPS SHALL BE SPREAD
<br />UNDERNEATH TREES WITHIN THE TREE PROTECTION ZONE TO A
<br />MAXIMUM DEPTH OF 6". LEAVE THE TRUNK CLEAR OF MULCH.
