<br />01 ALL CONCRETE MASONRY UNITS SHALL BE HOLLOW LOAD BEARING UNITS CONFORMING TO ASTM C90, GRADE N-TYPE I
<br />WITH ASSUMED DESIGN COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH fm=1500 PSI. UNITS MAY BE FABRICATED EITHER WITH NORMAL WEIGHT
<br />AGGREGATE (C33) OR LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE (C331).
<br />02 ALL UNITS SHALL BE PLACED IN RUNNING BOND.
<br />03 MORTAR SHALL BE TYPE M OR S. MORTAR SHALL MEET ASTM C270.
<br />04 GROUT SHALL COMPLY WITH ASTM C476. SLUMP SHALL BE 8 TO 11 INCHES, STRENGTH SHALL BE EQUAL TO 2500 PSI.
<br />05 STORE ALL UNITS OFF GROUND TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION. COVER MATERIALS TO PROTECT FROM THE ELEMENTS.
<br />06 NO AIR -ENTRAINING ADMIXTURES OR ANTIFREEZE COMPOUNDS, SUCH AS CALCIUM CHLORIDE SHALL BE ADDED TO
<br />MORTAR.
<br />07 ALL WALLS OR PILASTERS SUPPORTING STEEL AT BEARING PLATES SHALL BE GROUTED SOLID FOR FOUR COURSES IN
<br />DEPTH FOR A WIDTH OF 32".
<br />08 DO NOT BACKFILL AGAINST FOUNDATION WALLS UNTIL MORTAR HAS ATTAINED MAXIMUM STRENGTH. WHERE BACKFILL IS
<br />PLACED AGAINST FOUNDATION WALLS BEFORE FLOOR CONSTRUCTION IS IN PLACE, PROVIDE TEMPORARY BRACING.
<br />09 THE FIRST BLOCK COURSE ON FOOTING SHALL BE FILLED SOLID WITH CONCRETE, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON
<br />DRAWINGS.
<br />10 VERTICAL CONTROL JOINTS SHALL BE PLACED SUCH THAT THE RATIO OF JOINT SPACING (L) DIVIDED BY WALL HEIGHT (H)
<br />DOES NOT EXCEED 3.0. IN NO CASE SHALL SPACING EXCEED 50 FT. CONTROL JOINTS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED USING SASH

<br />7. LEAVE 1/16" SPACE AT ALL PLYWOOD PANEL END JOINTS AND 1/8" SPACE AT ALL PANEL EDGE JOINTS.
<br />GLUE LAMINATED TIMBER
<br />1. ALL GLUED LAMINATED TIMBER SHALL CONFORM TO ANSI/AITC Al90.1 'STRUCTURAL GLUED LAMINATED
<br />TIMBER.
<br />2. ALL GLUED LAMINATED TIMBER SHALL BE FABRICATED OF EITHER:
<br />A. VISUALLY GRADED SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE, COMBINATION OF 20E-V2 OR
<br />B. VISUALLY GRADED DOUGLAS FIR, COMBINATION OF 20E-V4 WITH MIN, FB=2000 PSI, & E=1,600,000 PSI
<br />3. ADHESIVE SHALL BE'WET USE' ADHESIVE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM D2559.
<br />4. ALL GLUED LAMINATED TIMBER UNITS SHALL BE ARCHITECTURAL APPEARANCE GRADE, IN ACCORDANCE
<br />WITH AITC 110.
<br />5. ALL GLUED LAMINATED TIMBER SHALL BE SHOP CUT FOR CONNECTIONS AND CONNECTING HARDWARE
<br />INCLUDING DRILLING OF BOLT HOLES.
<br />6. ALL GLUED LAMINATED TIMBER SHALL BE PROTECTED DURING TRANSIT, STORAGE AND ERECTION IN
<br />ACCORDANCE WITH AITC 111. PROTECTION SHALL INCLUDE FACTORY APPLICATION OF END SEALERS
<br />AND TRANSLUCENT PENETRATING SURFACE SEALER. MEMBERS SHALL BE INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED FOR
<br />SHIPMENT.
<br />7. MANUFACTURER SHALL BE AN AITC LICENSED FIRM, QUALIFIED TO APPLY THE AITC 'QUALITY INSPECTED'
<br />MARK. ALL GLUED LAMINATED UNITS SHALL BEAR THE'QUALITY INSPECTED' MARK ON A SURFACE WHICH
<br />WILL NOT BE EXPOSED IN THE FINISHED STRUCTURE.
<br />MICROLLAM(R) OR PARALL.AM(R) BEAMS
<br />1. MICROLLAM(R) OR PARALLAM(R) BEAMS ARE INDICATED ON DRAWINGS AS: M.L. OR P.L.
<br />2. MICROLLAM(R) BEAMS SHALL HAVE THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM PROPERTIES:
<br />E = 1.9X10^6PSI
<br />FB = 2,600 PSI
<br />FT = 1,555 PSI
<br />FC = 750 PSI
<br />FC, PARALLEL = 2,510 PSI
<br />FV = 285 PSI
<br />3. BEAMS MUST BE LATERALLY SUPPORTED AT TOP.
<br />4. MINIMUM BEARING LENGTH SHALL BE MINIMUM OF 1-1/2" AT ENDS AND 31/2" AT INTERMEDIATE
<br />SUPPORTS.
<br />5. MULTIPLE MEMBERS SHALL BE FASTENED TOGETHER IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S
<br />SPECIFICATIONS.
<br />a PLYWOOD BOX BEAM
<br />1. FABRICATION OF PLYWOOD BOX BEAMS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NATIONAL DESIGN
<br />SPECIFICATION (NDS) 2005, THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF TIMBER CONSTRUCTION AND THE AMERICAN
<br />PLYWOOD SPECIFICATIONS, AS SUMMARIZED BELOW.
<br />2. THE BOX BEAMS DESCRIBED HERE ARE GRADE AS CLASS 2 BEAMS. THEY ARE INTENDED AS THOSE WITH
<br />FLANGES OF STRESS -GRADE LUMBER. LUMBER FLANGES OF ONE OR MORE LAMINATIONS MUST BE
<br />GLUED UNDER PLYWOOD OR TO LUMBER UNDER POSITIVE MECHANICAL PRESSURE OR WITH THE
<br />PRESSURE APPLIED BY NAILS OR STAPLES.
<br />3. THE BEAM CROSS SECTION SHALL BE EITHER TYPE A OR TYPE B.
<br />A. TYPE A BEAMS CONSIST OF PLYWOOD WEBS ON BOTH SIDES OF LUMBER TOP AND BOTTOM FLANGES.
<br />WEB MAY BE NAILED/GLUED.
<br />B. TYPE B BEAMS ARE SIMILAR TO TYPE A EXCEPT THAT THEY INCLUDE A PLYWOOD SHIM BETWEEN THE
<br />LUMBER TOP AND BOTTOM FLANGES.
<br />4. INTERMEDIATE STIFFENERS SHALL BE PLACED NO MORE THAN 48" ON CENTER AND SHALL BE THE SAME
<br />WIDTH AS THE LUMBER FLANGED AT THAT SECTION. BEARING STIFFENERS AT ENDS OF BEAMS SHALL BE
<br />THE SAME WIDTH AS THE LUMBER FLANGE AT THAT SECTION AND DOUBLED UP.
<br />5. THE ADHESIVE USED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE PLYWOOD BOX BEAMS SHALL BE A RESORCINOL BASE
<br />ADHESIVE, AND SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF VOLUNTARY PRODUCT STANDARD PS56-73,
<br />'STRUCTURAL GLUED LAMINATED TIMBER.
<br />01. THESE STRUCTURAL PLANS HAVE BEEN PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE
<br />STRUCTURAL CHAPTERS OF THE 2007 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE (FBC).
<br />ALL WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS CODE AND ALL LOCAL REQUIREMENTS.
<br />02. DESIGN LOADS:
<br />A. SEE DESIGN CRITERIA ON STRUCTURAL DRAWING S4.01.
<br />B. FLOOR LIVE LOADS HAVE BEEN REDUCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CODE FOR GIRDERS AND COLUMNS.
<br />C. WIND LOAD: SEE REQUIRED DESIGN WIND PRESSURES ON STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS.
<br />D. COMPONENTS AND CLADDING: SEE REQUIRED DESIGN WIND PRESSURES ON STRUCTURAL
<br />DRAWINGS.
<br />E. DESIGN ROOF SNOW LOAD: N/A
<br />F. SEISMIC: N/A
<br />03. ALL WORK SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH ARCHITECTURAL, MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING
<br />DRAWINGS. CONFLICTS IN DIMENSION AND INTERFERENCE SHALL BE DIRECTED TO THE STRUCTURAL
<br />ENGINEER PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION OF WORK.
<br />04. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CHECK THE BUILDING LOCATIONS WITH REGARD TO PROPERTY LINE AND
<br />VERIFY ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS PRIOR TO EXCAVATION AND SHOP DRAWING PREPARATION. NOTIFY
<br />THE ARCHITECT / ENGINEER OF ANY DISCREPANCIES.
<br />05. IN CASE OF CONTRADICTION BETWEEN THE DRAWINGS, THE SPECIFICATIONS AND THE CODES, OR IF ANY
<br />CHANGE IS REQUIRED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INFORM THE ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY. NO CHANGE
<br />SHALL BE MADE WITHOUT WRITTEN APPROVAL OF THE ARCHITECT / ENGINEER.
<br />0 LUMBER
<br />1. ALL NEW LUMBER SHALL BE VISUALLY GRADED LUMBER, SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE NO.2 OR BETTER
<br />WITH MAXIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT OF 19%AND MINIMUM E=1,600,000 PSI IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
<br />NATIONAL DESIGN SPECIFICATION (NDS) FOR WOOD CONSTRUCTION.
<br />2. ALL LUMBER SHALL BEAR VISIBLE GRADE STAMPING.
<br />3. ALL JOISTS BEARING ON MASONRY SHALL BE FIRE -CUT WITH MINIMUM BEARING LENGTH OF FOUR
<br />INCHES.
<br />4. EXCEPT AS UPGRADED ON PLANS OR DETAILS, ALL LUMBER SHALL BE NAILED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
<br />NAILING SCHEDULE IN TABLE 2304.9-1 OF CHAPTER 23 OF THE 2007 FBC.
<br />5. JOISTS SHALL BE FASTENED TO STEEL GIRDERS BY EITHER OF TWO ACCEPTABLE METHODS AS FOLLOWS
<br />EXCEPT AS NOTED AT'TIMBER CONNECTIONS' BELOW:
<br />A. A CONTINUOUS 2 x 6 NAILER PLATE SHALL BE BOLTED TO THE TOP FLANGE OF STEEL WITH 1/2 DIA.
<br />STAINLESS STEEL BOLTS AT 4'-0" ON CENTER, ON ALTERNATE SIDES OF WEB. JOIST SHALL BE
<br />TOENAILED TO PLATE WITH 3 8d NAILS PER JOIST. JOISTS FRAMING FROM OPPOSITE SIDES SHALL
<br />LAP AT LEAST SIX INCHES, AND BE SPIKED TOGETHER AND BLOCKED.
<br />B. A CONTINUOUS 2 x 4 NAILER PLATE SHALL BE BOLTED ABOVE THE BOTTOM FLANGE OF STEEL MEMBER
<br />WITH 1/2 INCH DIAM. BOLTS AT 4'-0" ON CENTER. JOISTS SHALL BE NOTCHED ON TOP TO PROVIDE
<br />CLEARANCE OF TOP FLANGE AND TO PROVIDE A SPACE OF AT LEAST 3/4" BETWEEN STEEL AND
<br />SUBFLOOR. MAXIMUM DEPTH OF NOTCH SHALL BE 1/4 THE DEPTH OF JOIST. 20 GAGE METAL TIE OR
<br />WOOD SCAB SHALL BE USED TO FASTEN OPPOSITE JOISTS TO ON ANOTHER.
<br />TRUSSES
<br />1. SHOP DRAWINGS SHALL BE SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL OF ALL WOOD TRUSSES
<br />2. SHOP DRAWINGS SHALL SHOW CHORD AND WEB SIZES, STRENGTHS, STIFFENERS (AS REQUIRED),
<br />BEARING DETAILS, BRIDGING, BRACING, ERECTION NOTES AND DESIGN CALCULATIONS. TRUSSES SHALL
<br />BE DESIGNED TO MEET THE DESIGN LOADS SHOWN ON THE STRUCTURAL NOTES AND PLANS. MAXIMUM
<br />LIVE LOAD DEFLECTION SHALL BE LESS THAN 1/240 OF THE SPAN. MAXIMUM DEFLECTION UNDER FULL
<br />DESIGN LOAD SHALL BE LIMITED TO 1/180 OF THE SPAN.
<br />3. ALL SHOP DRAWINGS, ERECTION DRAWINGS AND CALCULATIONS SHALL BEAR THE SEAL AND SIGNATURE
<br />OF A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER LICENSED IN THE STATE OF THIS PROJECT.
<br />4. LATERAL BRACING OF WEB MEMBERS SHALL INCLUDE A DIAGONAL BRACE (2" THICK NOMINAL) AT
<br />SPACING NOT TO EXCEED 20 FEET. ALL END BAYS SHALL BE DIAGONALLY BRACED.
<br />5. BOTTOM CHORDS OF WOOD TRUSSES SHALL BE CONTINUALLY BRACED AT A SPACING NOT TO EXCEED
<br />10 FEET, LOCATED AT OR NEAR A PANEL POINT. DIAGONAL BRIDGING SHALL BE INSTALLED AT END BAYS
<br />AND IN INTERMEDIATE BAYS AT 20 FEET SPACING.
<br />6. THE TRUSS ERECTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROPER TRUSS HANDLING AND FOR TEMPORARY BRACING.
<br />ERECTION BRACING SHALL BE APPLIED AS EACH TRUSS IS PLACED IN POSITION. CARE MUST BE TAKEN
<br />TO STABILIZE THE FIRST TRUSS AND DIAGONAL BRACING IS NECESSARY TO AVOID PROGRESSIVE
<br />COLLAPSE.
