I I I _L 11 <br />III <br />HVAC GENERAL NOTES <br />THE FOLLOWING HVAC GENERAL NOTES APPLY TO GENERAL CONDITIONS OF HEATING, <br />VENTILATING, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) WORK REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT. <br />NO EXCLUSIONS FROM OR LIMITATIONS IN THE LANGUAGE USED IN THE CONTRACT <br />DOCUMENTS SHALL BE INTERPRETED AS MEANING THAT THE EQUIPMENT, <br />APPURTENANCES, AND/OR ACCESSORIES NECESSARY FOR A COMPLETE AND <br />OPERATIONAL SYSTEM ARE NOT TO BE PROVIDED AS REQUIRED. THE SEPARATE <br />DIVISIONAL CONTRACT DOCUMENTS DO NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR FROM THE <br />RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE THE WORK WHICH IS INDICATED ON ANY OF THE DIVISIONAL <br />CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. REVIEW AND COORDINATE THE SCOPE OF WORK WITH ALL <br />DOCUMENTS AND TRADES TO ASSURE A COMPLETE AND FUNCTIONAL SYSTEM IS BID AND <br />INSTALLED. <br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AND PAY FOR ALL PERMITS, FEES, AND INSPECTIONS <br />REQUIRED TO COMMENCE AND COMPLETE HVAC WORK. <br />SUBMIT FULL SUBMITTALS OF ALL HVAC EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS TO THE ENGINEER <br />FOR REVIEW, WHETHER IT IS EXACTLY AS SPECIFIED OR NOT. WHERE ALTERNATE <br />MANUFACTURERS ARE LISTED, ONE OF THOSE MANUFACTURERS SHALL BE PROVIDED <br />UNLESS A REQUEST FOR SUBSTITUTION HAS BEEN SUBMITTED PRIOR TO BID AND THE <br />MANUFACTURER SUBSEQUENTLY IS LISTED AS AN ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER IN AN <br />ADDENDUM. FOR ALL EQUIPMENT WHICH HAS BEEN SCHEDULED DIRECTLY ON THE DESIGN <br />DRAWINGS, PROVIDE WITHIN THE SUBMITTAL A PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE FOR THE <br />PROPOSED EQUIPMENT IN THE SAME FORMAT AS INCLUDED ON THE DRAWINGS. FAILURE <br />TO PROVIDE REQUIRED PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE WILL RESULT IN REJECTION OF THE <br />ENTIRE SUBMITTAL. <br />BIND COMPLETE SUBMITTALS IN A THREE RING BINDER(S) WITH A TITLE SHEET AND <br />IDENTIFICATION ON FRONT AND SIDE OF THE BINDER. CONTACT ENGINEER FOR PRIOR <br />APPROVAL TO SUBMIT PDF EMAILED SUBMITTALS. SUBMIT ALL HVAC PRODUCTS <br />SUBMITTALS ALL AT ONE TIME. PARTIAL SUBMITTALS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR REVIEW <br />AND APPROVAL. INDEX ALL ITEMS AS APPLICABLE. SUBMITTALS THAT DEVIATE FROM THE <br />REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS SHALL LIST ALL DIFFERENCES IN A COVER <br />LETTER ATTACHED TO FRONT OF THE SUBMITTAL. ANY UNLISTED DEVIATIONS FOUND <br />DURING REVIEW WILL RESULT IN THE REJECTION OF THE ENTIRE SUBMITTAL. FOR ITEMS <br />REVIEWED AND MARKED "REJECTED" OR "REVISE AND RESUBMIT-, ONLY ONE ADDITIONAL <br />RE -SUBMITTAL WILL BE REVIEWED TO VERIFY PRODUCT COMPLIANCE WITH THE CONTRACT <br />DOCUMENTS. SHOULD FURTHER SUBMITTALS BE REQUIRED BY THE ENGINEER TO VERIFY <br />THE SUBMITTAL WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, THE HOURLY <br />RATE OF $150.00 WILL BE BILLED TO THE CONTRACTOR FOR THE ENGINEER'S TIME SPENT <br />ON THE REVIEW. <br />THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND SUBMITTALS OF ALL TRADES SHALL BE COORDINATED <br />AND BE VIEWED IN CONNECTION AND CONJUNCTION WITH EACH OTHER TO INSURE THE <br />PROPER LOCATION AND INSTALLATION OF ALL DEVICES AND EQUIPMENT. MAKE <br />PARTICULAR NOTE OF LOCATIONS AND DIMENSIONS SHOWN ON THE ARCHITECTURAL <br />FLOOR PLANS AND ELEVATIONS. <br />HVAC DRAWINGS INDICATE THE SCHEMATIC LAYOUT AND LOCATION OF THE HVAC SYSTEM <br />COMPONENTS. UNLESS SPECIFIC DIMENSIONS ARE NOTED, THE ACTUAL LOCATION OF <br />THESE COMPONENTS SHALL BE DETERMINED IN THE FIELD BY THE CONTRACTOR IN <br />COORDINATION WITH THE WORK OF OTHER TRADES, THE USE OF MANUFACTURER'S <br />SUBMITTALS, AND SIMILAR CERTIFIED DATA. <br />ALL HVAC EQUIPMENT INSTALLED OUTDOORS SHALL BE SECURED TO ITS CURB OR <br />HOUSEKEEPING PAD AS DETAILED BY THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER FOR THE REQUIRED <br />WIND LOAD DESIGN. <br />ALL EXTERIOR EXPOSED MATERIALS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF NON-FERROUS <br />MATERIALS AND BE PAINTED WITH TWO COATS OF RUST INHIBITOR PAINT. <br />INSTALL AND TEST ALL EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS. MAINTAIN ADEQUATE <br />SERVICE SPACE AS REQUIRED. SERVICE SPACE SHALL BE CLEAR OF DUCTS, PIPES, <br />CONDUITS, WALL STUDS, CEILING HANGERS, AND ANY OTHER CONSTRUCTION <br />APPURTENANCE. <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE AND PROVIDE ALL CEILING/FLOOR/WALL ACCESS <br />PANELS THAT MAY BE REQUIRED FOR THE INSTALLATION, INSPECTION, AND SERVICE OF <br />HVAC EQUIPMENT WHETHER OR NOT IT IS SHOWN. ACCESS PANELS TO BE SELECTED BY <br />THE ARCHITECT. <br />ALL HVAC EQUIPMENT SHALL BE LABELED WITH ENGRAVED, LAMINATED, PLASTIC SIGNS. <br />SIGNS SHALL BE 1/8" THICK AND A MINIMUM OF 1-3/4" HIGH WITH 1"HIGH LETTERS. LENGTH <br />OF THE SIGN SHALL BE THE SUM OF THE LETTERS/NUMBERS PLUS 3/4" ON EACH END. <br />EXTERIOR SIGNS SHALL BE UV RATED, DESIGNATED AND MANUFACTURED TO BE EXPOSED <br />TO THE ELEMENTS. <br />ALL WALL MOUNTED THERMOSTATS AND SIMILAR SENSORS SHALL BE INSTALLED AT A <br />MAXIMUM ELEVATION OF 4'-O"ABOVE FINISHED FLOOR TO THE TOP OF THE DEVICE, UNLESS <br />OTHERWISE NOTED ON DRAWINGS. LOCATION OF THE SENSORS SHALL BE COORDINATED <br />WITH THE OTHER TRADES FOR A NEAT APPEARANCE. FINAL LOCATION OF THE SENSORS <br />SHALL BE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE ENGINEER. WHEN INSTALLED ON EXTERIOR <br />WALLS, PROVIDE AN INSULATED SUB -BASE. <br />RETAIN THE SERVICES OF A CERTIFIED COMMISSIONING AGENT TO PERFORM <br />COMMISSIONING WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBCE SECTION C408. <br />RETAIN THE SERVICES OF A NEBB AND/OR AABC CERTIFIED TEST AND BALANCE AGENCY TO <br />PERFORM FINAL TESTING AND BALANCING OF ALL HVAC SYSTEMS. RECORD ALL DATA ON <br />STANDARD "AABC" OR OTHER APPROVED FORMS, AND SUBMIT TO THE ENGINEER FOR <br />REVIEW. <br />AT PROJECT COMPLETION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF 8 HOURS OF <br />TRAINING ON THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE HVAC EQUIPMENT. <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A ONE YEAR WARRANTY ON PARTS AND LABOR FROM THE <br />DATE OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION. <br />SUPPLY, RETURN, TRANSFER, EXHAUST, AND OUTSIDE AIR DUCTWORK SHALL BE <br />GALVANIZED SHEET METAL. SEAL ALL DUCT JOINTS WITH HARDCAST. ALL CONCEALED <br />SUPPLY, RETURN, TRANSFER, AND OUTSIDE AIR DUCTS SHALL BE INSULATED WITH <br />BLANKET TYPE INSULATION WITH VAPOR BARRIER (MINIMUM R = 6.0). DUCTWORK EXPOSED <br />INSIDE MECHANICAL ROOMS SHALL BE EXTERNALLY INSULATED WITH RIGID FIBROUS <br />DUCTBOARD WITH AN EPA LISTED ANTIMICROBIAL COATING. ALL DUCTWORK INSULATION <br />SHALL BE LABELED AND MARKED AT REQUIRED INTERVALS PER THE FLORIDA BUILDING <br />CODE, SECTION 604. EXHAUST AIR DUCTWORK SHALL NOT BE INSULATED UNLESS <br />OTHERWISE SPECIFIED. <br />PROVIDE A DEDUCTIVE ALTERNATE FOR: SUPPLY, RETURN, AND TRANSFER AIR DUCTWORK <br />SHALL BE 1-1/2" THICK (MINIMUM R=6) FIBROUS DUCTBOARD WITH AN EPA LISTED <br />ANTIMICROBIAL COATING. DUCT TAPE AND TAPE APPLICATION PROCEDURES SHALL BE IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE LATEST EDITION OF "SMACNA! STANDARDS. TAPE SHALL ALSO BE <br />APPROVED AND LISTED BY THE FIBERGLASS DUCT BOARD MANUFACTURER FOR USE WITH <br />THEIR PRODUCT. <br />ALL DUCTWORK SHALL BE FABRICATED AND INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LATEST <br />EDITION OF"SMACNA" DUCT CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS. ALL DUCTWORK SHALL BE LEAK <br />TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SMACNA AND ASHRAE STANDARDS, AND BE WITNESSED BY <br />THE TEST AND BALANCE AGENCY. DUCTS WITH A LEAKAGE RATE MORE THAN 2% WILL BE <br />REJECTED. PROVIDE LEAKAGE TEST RESULTS TO ENGINEER. FABRICATE AND SEAL <br />DUCTWORK PER THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE (REFER TO THE EXTERNAL STATIC PRESSURE <br />CRITERIA IN THE AIR HANDLING UNIT SCHEDULE FOR CORRESPONDING OPERATING <br />PRESSURE): <br />OPERATING PRESSURE DUCT PRESSURE CLASS SEAL CLASS <br />UP TO 3" W.G. 3"W.G. B <br />WHERE INDICATED ON HVAC EQUIPMENT SCHEDULES, EXTERNAL STATIC PRESSURE IS <br />DEFINED AS NOT INCLUDING LOSSES DUE TO UNIT MOUNTED FILTERS OR MIXING BOXES. <br />THOSE LOSES SHALL BE PART OF THE EQUIPMENT INTERNAL LOSSES, SAME AS THOSE <br />CAUSED BY COILS, CABINET, ETC. <br />ALL NEW DUCTWORK SHALL NOT BE STORED IN UNCLEAN AREAS. PROTECT ALL <br />DUCTWORK FROM DUST AND DEBRIS WHILE IT IS STORED ON SITE. WHILE UNDER <br />CONSTRUCTION, ALL INSTALLED DUCTWORK SHALL BE TEMPORARILY SEALED WITH <br />VISQUEEN PRIOR TO TEST AND BALANCE IN ORDER TO LIMIT ACCUMULATION OF <br />CONSTRUCTION DUST INSIDE DUCTWORK SYSTEM. IF EITHER OF THESE PROCEDURES IS <br />NOT CONDUCTED, THE ENTIRE ASSOCIATED DUCTWORK SYSTEM AND HVAC EQUIPMENT <br />SHALL BE CLEANED TO THE ENGINEER'S SATISFACTION. <br />FLEXIBLE DUCTS SHALL BE FACTORY INSULATED WITH 3/4" THICK GLASS FIBER AND <br />INCLUDE A VINYL VAPOR JACKET AND HELIX STEEL WIRE. "THERMAFLEX" TYPE MAKE OR <br />APPROVED EQUAL. FLEXIBLE DUCT SHALL BE ATTACHED WITH "THERMAFLEX" WRAP LOCK <br />SERIES 0902 CLAMPS. MAXIMUM LENGTH OF FLEXIBLE DUCT SHALL BE 61-0". <br />ALL DUCTWORK ELBOWS SHALL INCLUDE AIR FLOW DIRECTIONAL VANES AS PER IISMACNA" <br />DUCT CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS. SPLITTER VANES SHALL BE PROVIDED IN ALL ELBOWS <br />AND DUCT OFFSETS WITH ANGLES BETWEEN 15 DEGREE AND 90 DEGREES AS PER FIG. 2-5 <br />OF THE SMACNA MANUAL. 90 DEGREE ELBOWS SHALL HAVE TURNING VANES. <br />PROVIDE CONICAL SPIN -IN FITTINGS AT ALL CONNECTIONS OF ROUND SHEET METAL OR <br />FLEXIBLE SUPPLY AIR DUCTS TO RIGID RECTANGULAR DUCT. <br />DUCTWORK, AIR DEVICES, AND OTHER ITEMS OF THE AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM SHALL BE <br />SUPPORTED DIRECTLY FROM THE BUILDING STRUCTURE AND NOT FROM THE CEILING OR <br />CEILING SUSPENSION SYSTEM. AIR DEVICES SHALL BE SUPPORTED FROM THE BUILDING <br />STRUCTURE FROM AT LEAST TWO POINTS. COORDINATE LOCATION OF AIR DEVICES, <br />WALLCAPS, ROOFCAPS, AND LOUVERS WITH ALL OTHER TRADES. <br />ALL BALANCING DAMPERS SHALL BE OPPOSED BLADE TYPE. PROVIDE A ONE FOOT LONG <br />PLASTIC STRIP OF MATERIAL FROM ALL DAMPER HANDLES TO ASSIST TEST AND BALANCE <br />AGENCY IN IDENTIFYING ALL DAMPERS. REMOVE MATERIAL FROM EXPOSED DAMPERS <br />AFTER SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION. <br />IN AREAS WHERE THE BALANCING DAMPER INSTALLATION PROHIBITS ACCESS FOR TEST <br />AND BALANCE, PROVIDE MANUAL REMOTE CABLE CONTROL EQUAL TO YOUNG REGULATOR <br />MODEL 830ACC/270-896. ACCESS TO END OF CABLE TO BE FLUSH IN CEILING NEATLY <br />CONCEALED WITH THREADED CAP. PAINT CAP TO MATCH CEILING COLOR. INDICATE <br />LOCATIONS OF ALL CAPS IN A FLOOR PLAN INCLUDED IN THE SUBMITTALS AND OBTAIN <br />APPROVAL FROM ENGINEER PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. <br />FOR SEALING OF FIRE DAMPER AND PIPE OR DUCT PENETRATION THROUGH FIRE RATED <br />WALLS, REFER TO ARCHITECTURAL CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. DUCTWORK OR PIPING SHALL NOT BE SUPPORTED FROM ANY FIRE <br />RATED WALL. CORRECT ANY EXISTING CONDITIONS. <br />ALL DUCTWORK AND/OR PIPING MUST BE INSTALLED 6" AWAY FROM ANY FIRE RATED WALL. <br />CORRECT ANY EXISTING CONDITIONS. <br />DUCT MOUNTED SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL BE FURNISHED AND WIRED BY ELECTRICAL <br />CONTRACTOR. DETECTORS SHALL COMPLY WITH UL 268A. HVAC DRAWINGS INDICATE THE <br />APPROXIMATE LOCATION OF DUCT DETECTORS. HVAC CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSIST THE <br />ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR IN LOCATING AND INSTALLING THE DETECTORS IN ACCORDANCE <br />WITH MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. DUCT ACCESS DOORS SHALL BE MINIMUM <br />12"X 12" INSULATED AND DOUBLE GASKETED. ACCESS DOOR SHALL NOT REQUIRE TOOLS <br />TO BE OPENED. <br />PROVIDE FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ALL AIR MOVING APPARATUS AND DUCTWORK. <br />RECOMMENDED WIDTH IS 4". <br />KITCHEN HOOD AND ASSOCIATED EXHAUST DUCTWORK SHALL BE FABRICATED AND <br />INSTALLED IN FULL COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF NFPA-96 AND THE FLORIDA <br />BUILDING CODE, INCLUDING CLEARANCES FROM COMBUSTIBLE SURFACES, FIRE <br />PROTECTION, AND LOCAL CODE REQUIREMENTS. EXHAUST GREASE DUCTWORK TO BE <br />FULLY WELDED STAINLESS STEEL. <br />PROVIDE P-TRAPS AT ALL CONDENSATE DRAIN LINE CONNECTIONS. SLOPE DRAIN LINES <br />TOWARD THE POINT OF DISCHARGE (MIN 1/8"/FOOT). INSULATE CONDENSATE DRAIN LINES <br />WITH 3/4"THICK SEAMLESS CLOSED CELL RUBBER PIPE INSULATION. CONDENSATE DRAIN <br />LINES TO BE (PVC) (COPPER). LINES SHALL BE ONE DIAMETER LARGER THAN THE UNIT <br />DRAIN CONNECTION, BUT NOT LESS THAN 3/4 INCH. PROVIDE CLEANOUTS AT ALL CHANGES <br />OF DIRECTION. <br />REFRIGERANT LINES SHALL BE SIZED PER THE AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT <br />MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS. PROVIDE SIZING AND ACCESSORY DATA WITH THE <br />EQUIPMENT PACKAGE SUBMITTAL. PIPING IS TO BE FILLED WITH DRY NITROGEN WHILE <br />SOLDERING. TEST, CLEAN, AND DEHYDRATE PIPES AND PROVIDE CRITICAL CHARGE OF <br />REFRIGERANT AS PER EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION. PROVIDE ALL <br />NECESSARY VALVES, TRAPS, FILTER/DRYERS, SIGHT GLASS, ETC. AS REQUIRED FOR A <br />COMPLETE AND READY TO OPERATE INSTALLATION. INCLUDE ACCESSIBLE SERVICE <br />FITTINGS. BI-FLOW LIQUID LINE FILTER DRYER SHALL BE PROVIDED IN HEAT PUMP UNITS. <br />ALL REFRIGERANT PIPING SHALL BE INSULATED WITH 3/4"THICK SEAMLESS CLOSED CELL <br />RUBBER PIPE INSULATION.
