<br />1. THE EXISTING -TO -REMAIN PORTIONS OF THE LIFE SAFETY PLANS WERE PROVIDED TO THE

<br />1. COMPLY WITH NEW CONSTRUCTION AND RCP REQUIREMENTS OF THE GENERAL NOTES IN THIS

<br />10. WHERE EXISTING CONSTRUCTION IS FOUND TO CONTAIN ANY HAZARDOUS MATERIAL, THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE OWNER AND THE ARCHITECT IN WRITING. NOTE:
<br />REMOVAL, DISPOSAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE HAZARDOUS MATERIAL IS THE SOLE
<br />RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER.
<br />11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPLACE OR REPAIR ANY EXISTING -TO -REMAIN MATERIALS AND
<br />FINISHES (CEILING GRID, CEILING TILE, GYPSUM BOARD, FINISHES, DOORS, WINDOWS, FRAMES,
<br />WALL PROTECTION, ETC.) WHICH ARE DAMAGED DURING DEMOLITION OR CONSTRUCTION.
<br />12.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL ICRA REQUIREMENTS WITH THE OWNER.
<br />13.ALL WORK TO BE COMPLETED OUTSIDE THE AREA OF CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE ISOLATED TO
<br />PORTABLE "DUST -BUGGIES" OR WORK BOOTHS.
<br />14.SEAL ALL EXISTING AND ABANDONED PIPE OR CONDUIT PENETRATIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH
<br />THE APPROPRIATE U.L. DESIGN.
<br />15.BUNDLE TIE AND INDEPENDENTLY SUPPORT ALL NEW AND EXISTING LOW VOLTAGE CABLING
<br />ABOVE THE CEILING.
<br />16.REMOVE ALL EXISTING ABANDONED CEILING MOUNTED HANGER WIRES, SUPPORT BRACKETS,
<br />HANGER RODS, AND MOUNTING STRAPS.
<br />17.IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 51B AND NFPA 601, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN A HOT WORK
<br />PERMIT PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY WELDING, CUTTING, BRAZING, GRINDING OR OTHER ACTIVITIES
<br />THAT GENERATES SPARK CAPABLE OF CAUSING COMBUSTION.
<br />18.AS REQUIRED BY NFPA, REMOVE ALL FLAMMABLE ITEMS, INCLUDING BUT LIMITED TO
<br />COMPRESSED AIR AND GAS CANS OR CYLINDERS (I.E. BRAZING, ACETYLENE, PROPANE TANKS,
<br />PAINT CANS, LUBRICANTS, ETC.) FROM THE JOB SITE WHEN THE PROJECT HAS BEEN VACATED BY

<br />8. ANY UTILITY SHUT -OFFS AS REQUIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR FOR COMPLETION OF THE WORK
<br />SUCH AS ELECTRICAL, GAS, WATER, SEWER, STEAM, ETC., MUST BE SCHEDULED WITH THE OWNER,
<br />ARCHITECT AND UTILITY COMPANY PRIOR TO COMMENCING WORK.
<br />9. DETAILS SHOWN ARE INTENDED TO BE INDICATIVE OF THE PROFILES AND TYPE OF DETAILING
<br />REQUIRED FOR THE WORK. DETAILS NOT SHOWN ARE SIMILAR IN CHARACTER TO THOSE SHOWN.
<br />10. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, ALL FASTENERS AND FASTENING DEVICES ARE TO BE CONCEALED IN
<br />ALL FINISHED SPACES.
<br />11. ANY PIPING, DUCTS, CONDUITS, ETC. THAT PENETRATE FIRE RATED FLOOR SLABS AND WALLS
<br />SHALL BE INSTALLED IN A MANNER THAT WILL PRESERVE THE FIRE INTEGRITY OF THE FLOOR OR
<br />WALL. FIRE STOP RATINGS SHALL MATCH RATINGS OF FLOORS OR WALLS WHERE PENETRATIONS
<br />OCCUR. PROVIDE FIRE DAMPERS IN DUCTS PENETRATING FIRE -RATED WALLS AND FLOORS TO MEET
<br />THE APPLICABLE BUILDING CODES.
<br />12. ALL JOINTS OF ANY ELEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION WHICH ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A FIRE
<br />RESISTANCE RATING SHALL BE INSTALLED PER THE MANUFACTURER'S PUBLISHED TESTED
<br />ASSEMBLIES, SHALL BE TIGHT AND SHALL PREVENT THE PASSAGE OF SMOKE AND FLAME.
<br />13. WHERE THE FIRE RATINGS OF WALLS ARE NOTED ON THE DRAWINGS, THE FIRE RATING SHALL
<br />APPLY TO THE ENTIRE PERIMETER ENCLOSURE OF THE ROOM OR SPACE FOR THE FULL LENGTH AND
<br />HEIGHT OF AREAS BEING SEPARATED, EXTENDING TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FLOOR OR ROOF DECK.
<br />14. PROVIDE FIRE STOPS TO SEPARATE WALL CAVITIES FROM HORIZONTAL PLENUM AREAS AND
<br />BETWEEN FLOORS TO CLOSE OPENINGS. FIRE RATING OF STOPS SHALL MATCH THE FIRE RATING OF
<br />VERTICAL SEPARATION OR FLOOR CONSTRUCTION, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
<br />15. CONSTRUCTION AROUND CABINETS, PANELS AND BOXES RECESSED IN FIRE -RATED FLOOR, WALL
<br />AND CEILING ASSEMBLIES SHALL MAINTAIN THE FIRE -RATING NOTED IN THE DRAWINGS.
<br />16. OPENINGS IN WALL, CEILING, FLOOR AND ROOF ASSEMBLIES SHALL BE SEALED WITH
<br />PENETRATION SEALANT SYSTEMS THAT MEET OR EXCEED THE REQUIRED FIRE RATINGS.
<br />17. ALL DISSIMILAR METALS SHALL BE EFFECTIVELY ISOLATED FROM EACH OTHER BY GASKETS OR
<br />COATINGS OR BOTH TO AVOID GALVANIC CORROSION ACTION.
<br />18. PATCH FIREPROOFING TO MATCH EXISTING.
<br />19. SEE MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, FIRE PROTECTION, AND ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS TO DETERMINE
<br />QUANTITIES OF DIFFUSERS, GRILLES, LIGHT FIXTURES, SPRINKLER HEADS, ETC.
<br />20. PIPE AND COLUMN FURRING SHALL BE HELD AS CLOSE TO THE PIPING AND/OR COLUMNS AS
<br />POSSIBLE, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
<br />21. THE EXTENT OF THE WORK SHOWN ON THE PLANS AND DETAILS REFLECTS THE BEST JUDGMENT
<br />OF THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FAMILIARIZE HIM/HERSELF WITH THE
<br />EXISTING CONDITIONS AND ADVISE THE ARCHITECT, IN WRITING, OF ANY SITUATION THAT WOULD NOT
<br />ALLOW HIM/HER TO PROCEED ON THE BASIS OF THESE DOCUMENTS.
<br />22. THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER'S SELECTION OF MATERIALS AND DETAILS DOES NOT RELIEVE THE
<br />CONTRACTOR FROM VERIFYING WITH THE MATERIAL SUPPLIERS THAT THE PROPOSED MATERIALS
<br />ARE CORRECT AND PROPER FOR THE INTENDED APPLICATION AND USE.
<br />23. CONCRETE FILLS ABOVE STRUCTURAL SLABS SHALL BE REINFORCED. REFER TO STRUCTURAL
<br />DRAWINGS FOR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS.
<br />24. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, WHERE AN ARCHITECTURAL FINISHED FLOOR IS TO BE PROVIDED
<br />(REQUIRING A DEPRESSED STRUCTURAL SLAB), THE FLOOR ELEVATIONS ARE TO TOP OF FINISHED
<br />FLOOR. WHERE AN ARCHITECTURAL FINISHED FLOOR IS INTENDED FOR SURFACE APPLICATION, THE
<br />FLOOR ELEVATIONS ARE TO TOP OF STRUCTURAL SLAB. REFER TO STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS FOR
<br />LOCATION OF DEPRESSED SLABS.
<br />25. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, CONCRETE PAD WITH REINFORCING SHALL BE INSTALLED UNDER ALL
<br />FLOOR MOUNTED MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. REFER TO MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL,
<br />PLUMBING AND FIRE PROTECTION DRAWINGS FOR THE EXTENT OF EQUIPMENT PADS. THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE SIZE, THICKNESS AND LOCATION OF THE CONCRETE PADS
<br />WITH THE EQUIPMENT INSTALLER.
<br />26. AT THOSE PLACES WHERE MATERIALS ARE APPLIED TO, OR ARE IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH WORK
<br />INSTALLED BY ANOTHER SUBCONTRACTOR, COMMENCEMENT OF WORK IMPLIES THE ACCEPTANCE OF
<br />THE SUBSTRATE AND EXISTING CONDITIONS AS SUITABLE FOR THE APPLICATION INTENDED.
<br />27. ALL WORK SHALL BE EXECUTED IN A WORKMANLIKE MANNER. CONSTRUCTION OF NEW
<br />HORIZONTAL SURFACES SHALL BE LEVEL AND FLAT AND NEW VERTICAL SURFACES SHALL BE
<br />CONSTRUCTED TO BE PLUMB, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
<br />28. WHERE NOT INDICATED, PROVIDE BLOCKING IN WALLS, SOFFITS, AND CEILINGS RECEIVING
<br />SIGNAGE, COAT HOOKS, LOCKERS, MARKER BOARDS, AND OTHER MOUNTED ITEMS, ACCORDING TO
<br />THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS.
<br />29, CONTINUOUS PERIMETER FIRE SAFING BETWEEN FLOORS SHALL BE PROVIDED AND
<br />COORDINATED WITH THE EXTERIOR WALL SYSTEMS AND ASSEMBLIES. THE FIRE SAFING'S RATING
<br />SHALL MATCH OR EXCEED THAT OF THE FLOOR CONSTRUCTION RATING.
<br />30. CONTINUOUS PERIMETER FIRE SAFING BETWEEN FLOORS SHALL BE PROVIDED AND
<br />COORDINATED WITH THE EXTERIOR WALL SYSTEMS AND ASSEMBLIES. THE FIRE SAFING'S RATING
<br />SHALL MATCH OR EXCEED THAT OF THE FLOOR CONSTRUCTION RATING.
<br />31. CONTRACTOR TO CONFIRM AND FIELD VERIFY DIMENSIONS TO COORDINATE WITH OWNER
<br />PROVIDED EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS.
<br />32. SUBSTITUTIONS OF MATERIALS MAY OCCUR IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS,
<br />AND ONLY IF AUTHORIZED BY THE ARCHITECT.
<br />33. CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM FIELD VERIFICATION OF ALL THE EXISTING CONDITIONS ON THE
<br />SITE AND SHALL VERIFY THE LOCATION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES AND SHALL COMPARE THE
<br />INFORMATION TO THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF ALL WORK. THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT IN WRITING OF ANY DISCREPANCIES.
<br />34. ALL CONTRACTOR PROVIDED MATERIALS SHALL BE NEW AND DELIVERED AND INSTALLED IN GOOD
<br />CONDITION AND WITHOUT ANY DEFECTS.
<br />35. ANY WORK NOT CONFORMING TO THESE SPECIFICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED. THE ARCHITECT OR
<br />THE OWNER MAY REJECT THE WORK AND REJECTED WORK WILL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED AT NO
<br />ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
<br />36. CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ARE INCLUSIVE OF ALL DISCIPLINES DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
<br />THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATION ACROSS ALL DRAWINGS.
