THE EXISTING -TO -REMAIN PORTIONS OF THE LIFE SAFETY PLANS WERE PROVIDED TO THE <br />ARCHITECT BY THE PROPERTY OWNER. RS&H, INC., TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR <br />ACCURACY. <br />2. THE LIFE SAFETY PLANS ARE "DIAGRAMMATIC ONLY". THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIELD VERIFYING THAT THE REQUIRED <br />VISIBILITY FOR EACH INDIVIDUALLY INSTALLED EXIT LIGHT IS NOT IN ANYWAY DIMINISHED DUE TO <br />VISUAL INTERFERENCE CAUSED BY ANY OTHER LIGHT FIXTURE, DEVICE, SIGN, ETC. (THE <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE ARCHITECT'S REFLECTED CEILING PLANS, THE <br />ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS, THE GRAPHICS DRAWINGS, ETC.) <br />5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR STENCILING EACH "WALL/PARTITION/BARRIER" <br />CLASSIFICATION IN RED LETTERS ABOVE THE FINISH CEILING ON EACH SIDE OF ALL FIRE WALLS, <br />RATED FIRE BARRIERS, RATED SMOKE BARRIERS, NON -RATED SMOKE PARTITIONS, ETC. <br />GENERAL FIRE SPRINKLER NOTES:. <br />1. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT PLANS FOR A SEPARATE PERMIT FOR THIS WORK <br />2. ALL WORK SHALL COMPLY WITH THE CURRENTTLY ADOPTED VERSION OF NFPA 13 <br />3. PROVIDE SHOP DRAWINGS FOR ARCHITECT'S REVIEW, INCLUDING PIPING, PROPOSED <br />LOCATIONS, AND NEW SPRINKLER HEADS, AT ALL LOCATIONS. PROVIDE SPRINKLER HEADS TO <br />MATCH EXISTING HEADS, IF APPLICABLE. <br />GENERAL NOTES C� DEMOLITION FOR PLANS, <br />1. COMPLY WITH NEW CONSTRUCTION AND RCP REQUIREMENTS OF THE GENERAL NOTES IN THIS <br />SET OF DRAWINGS WHICH ALSO APPLY TO THE DEMOLITION FLOOR PLANS. <br />2. TYPICAL WALL REMOVAL SHALL INCLUDE <br />MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, COMMUNICATIONS AND SECURITY SYSTEMS CONTAINED <br />THEREIN. REMOVE DOORS, CABINET WORK, CASEWORK, WINDOWS, FRAMES, FINISHES, FIXTURES <br />AND THEIR ATTACHMENTS AS REQUIRED. AFTER REMOVAL, REPAIR HOLES IN EXISTING -TO -REMAIN <br />FLOORS, WALLS, BARRIERS AND ROOFS TO COMPLY WITH ORIGINAL FIRE, SMOKE AND SOUND <br />ASSEMBLIES, FIRE PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS, AND STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. PREPARE <br />SURFACES TO RECEIVE NEW FINISH PER INTERIOR DESIGN DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS. <br />(WHERE NEW FINISH IS CALLED FOR ON AN EXISTING SURFACE, REMOVE THE EXISTING FINISH AND <br />PREPARE EXISTING SURFACE TO RECEIVE THE NEW FINISH.) <br />5. SEE MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, FIRE PROTECTION, ELECTRICAL AND DRAWINGS FOR DEMOLITION <br />OF UTILITIES. <br />6. AT ALL WALLS/PARTITIONS/BARRIERS, FLOORS AND ROOFS WHICH ENCLOSE OR TOUCH SPACES <br />WHERE WORK IS BEING PERFORMED AS A PART OF THIS PROJECT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY <br />THAT THIS EXISTING CONSTRUCTION (INCLUDING DAMPERS, DUCT PENETRATIONS, DOORS, <br />WINDOWS, FRAMES, ETC.) THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BRACE ALL EXISTING STRUCTURES AND ALL STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS <br />AS NECESSARY DURING DEMOLITION. <br />9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT CUT EXISTING OR NEW STRUCTURAL WORK IN ANY MANNER THAT <br />MAY RESULT IN A REDUCTION OF LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY OR LOAD/DEFLECTION RATIO. THE <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT IN WRITING OF ALL STRUCTURAL CUTS PRIOR TO <br />EXECUTION SO THAT APPROVAL CAN BE OBTAINED IN ADVANCE FROM THE ARCHITECT. <br />10. WHERE EXISTING CONSTRUCTION IS FOUND TO CONTAIN ANY HAZARDOUS MATERIAL, THE <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE OWNER AND THE ARCHITECT IN WRITING. NOTE: <br />REMOVAL, DISPOSAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE HAZARDOUS MATERIAL IS THE SOLE <br />RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER. <br />11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPLACE OR REPAIR ANY EXISTING -TO -REMAIN MATERIALS AND <br />FINISHES (CEILING GRID, CEILING TILE, GYPSUM BOARD, FINISHES, DOORS, WINDOWS, FRAMES, <br />WALL PROTECTION, ETC.) WHICH ARE DAMAGED DURING DEMOLITION OR CONSTRUCTION. <br />12.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL ICRA REQUIREMENTS WITH THE OWNER. <br />13.ALL WORK TO BE COMPLETED OUTSIDE THE AREA OF CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE ISOLATED TO <br />PORTABLE "DUST -BUGGIES" OR WORK BOOTHS. <br />14.SEAL ALL EXISTING AND ABANDONED PIPE OR CONDUIT PENETRATIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH <br />THE APPROPRIATE U.L. DESIGN. <br />15.BUNDLE TIE AND INDEPENDENTLY SUPPORT ALL NEW AND EXISTING LOW VOLTAGE CABLING <br />ABOVE THE CEILING. <br />16.REMOVE ALL EXISTING ABANDONED CEILING MOUNTED HANGER WIRES, SUPPORT BRACKETS, <br />HANGER RODS, AND MOUNTING STRAPS. <br />17.IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 51B AND NFPA 601, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN A HOT WORK <br />PERMIT PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY WELDING, CUTTING, BRAZING, GRINDING OR OTHER ACTIVITIES <br />THAT GENERATES SPARK CAPABLE OF CAUSING COMBUSTION. <br />18.AS REQUIRED BY NFPA, REMOVE ALL FLAMMABLE ITEMS, INCLUDING BUT LIMITED TO <br />COMPRESSED AIR AND GAS CANS OR CYLINDERS (I.E. BRAZING, ACETYLENE, PROPANE TANKS, <br />PAINT CANS, LUBRICANTS, ETC.) FROM THE JOB SITE WHEN THE PROJECT HAS BEEN VACATED BY <br />CONSTRUCTION PERSONNEL AND DURING THE TIME THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM AND FIRE <br />SUPPRESSION SYSTEM IS INACTIVE. <br />19. ALL MODIFICATIONS TO THE FIRE ALARM OR FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM, INCLUDING AUDIOVISUAL <br />COMMUNICATION DEVICES, SHALL BE DEFERRED TO THE CITY UNDER SEPARATE SUBMITTAL. <br />20. REMOVE PORTION OF EXISTING SLAB AS REQUIRED TO INSTALL NEW PLUMBING. COORDINATE <br />WITH PLUMBING DRAWINGS. <br />i <br />GENERAL NOTES FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION <br />AND DIMENSION PLANS. <br />1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ADVISE THE OWNER AND TENANTS THAT AN 18 INCH MINIMUM <br />VERTICAL CLEARANCE SHALL BE MAINTAINED BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE EXTENDED (DROP <br />DOWN) SPRINKLER HEADS AND THE TOP OF ANY FILES, SHELVING, EQUIPMENT, LOCKERS, ETC., <br />(WHETHER CONTRACTOR OR OWNERFURNISHED). THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO ADVISE THE <br />OWNER AND TENANTS THAT ITEMS SHALL NOT BE PLACED OR STORED ON TOP OF SHELVING SO <br />THAT THIS CODE REQUIRED 18 INCH MINIMUM VERTICAL CLEARANCE WILL BE MAINTAINED. <br />7.
