<br />1. Wag Assembly — The 1 or 2 hr fire rated gypsum wallboard/stud wall assembly side be constructed of the materials
<br />and In the manner described in the Individual U300 or U400 Series Wad or Partition Designs In the UL Fire Resistance
<br />Directory and shad Include the following construction features:
<br />A. Studs — Wait framing may consist or either wood studs or steel channel studs. Wood studs to
<br />consist of nom 2 by 4 in. cumber spaced 16 in. OC with nom 2 by 4 In, lumber arid plates and crass
<br />braces. Steel studs to be min 3.5/8 in. wide by 1-3/8 In. deep channels spaced max 24 in. OC.
<br />B. Gypsum Board* — Nom 5/8 in, thick, 4 ft. wide with square or tapered edges. The gypsum
<br />wallboard type, number of layers and sleet orientation shall be as specified in the individual Wall
<br />and Partition Design. Diem of circular through opening cut through gypsum wallboard on each site
<br />of well assembly to be mkt 0 In. (point contact) to max 1 in. larger than outside dam of flexible
<br />metal conduit (Item 2) installed in through opening. Side edge of circular opening to be mkt 3 In.

<br />C. Fastens — When wood stud framing If employed, gypsum wallboard attached to studs with
<br />cement coated nails as specified In the individual Wall or Partition Design. When steel channel stud
<br />training Is employed, gypsum wallboard attached to studs with Type S sell-driOWg, self -tapping
<br />bugle -head steel screws as specified In the individual Wall or Partition Design.
<br />2. Through Penetrating Product* — Flexible Metal Conduit — Nom 4 in. diem (or smaller) aluminum or steel Flexible
<br />Metal Conduit+. Max one flexible metal conduit to be installed near center of circular opening in gypsum wallboard.
<br />Flexible metal conduit to be rigidly supported on both skies of wall assembly.

<br />min 3-5/8 In. (92 mm) wide and spaced max 24 In. (610 mm) OC.
<br />8. Insulation* — R13 (or higher) glass fiber or mineral fiber batt insulation friction fitted into stud
<br />cavity.
<br />C. Gypsum Board* — One layer of nom 5/8 In. (18 mm) thick gypsum board, as specified In the
<br />Individual Wall and Partition Design. Max diam of opening Is 4.1/2 In. (114 mm)..
<br />2. Piping system — The piping system for use in dosed (process or supply) or vented (drain, waste or vent) piping
<br />systems shall consist of the following:
<br />A. Swell or Iron Pipe — Nom 3 in. (76 mm) diam (or smaller) cast or ductile iron pipe or Schedule
<br />40 (or heavier) steel pipe, installed within stud cavity and connected to tee. The tee penetrates wall
<br />on one side and is Installed either concentrically or eccentrically within the Rrestop system. The
<br />annular space between the toe and the edge of the opening shag be min 3/8 in. (10 mm) to max
<br />5/8 in. (16 mm).
<br />S. Shielded Slip on Coupling — Nom 3 in. (76 mm) diem (or smaller) 32 gauge (or heavier)
<br />corrugated stainless steel shielded rubber coupling. Coupling to be secured to tee with stainless
<br />steel hose clamp at any point beyond the surface of wall, or may extend a max of i in. into
<br />opening. When coupling extends Into opening, the annular space between the coupling and the
<br />edge of the opening shall be min 114 in. (6 mm) to max 112 In. (13 men).
<br />C. Drench Piping — Branch pipe is secured to shielded slip on coupling with stainless steel hose
<br />damp and may consist of the following:
<br />1. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pipe — Nom 3 in. (76 mm) diem (or smaller)
<br />Schedule 40 solid care PVC pipe.
<br />2. Steel or Iron Pipe — Nom 3 In. (76 men) diem (or smaller) cost or
<br />ductile iron pipe or Schedule 40 (or heavier) steel pipe.

<br />A. Steel Pipe — Nom 12 in, diem (or smaller) Schedule 10 (or heavier) steel pipe.
<br />B. Conduit — Nom 6 In. diem (or smaller) electrical metallic tube g or steal conduit.
<br />C. Copper Tlubbig — Nom 6 In. diem (or smaller) Type L (or heavier) copper tubing.
<br />D. Copper Pipe — Nom 6 in. diem (or smaller) Regular (or heavier) copper pipe.
