MODIFY THE EXISTING HVAC AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM TO COORDINATE WITH <br />ARCHITECTURAL BUILDING INTERIOR MODIFICATIONS DESCRIBED ON THE DRAWINGS, <br />INCLUDING PROVISIONS OF NEW DUCTWORK, INSULATION, ACCESSORIES AND HANGER <br />MATERIALS, DIFFUSERS AND GRILLES. <br />2. TEST ADJUST AND BALANCE HVAC SYSTEMS WITHIN THE SCOPE OF WORK. REFER TO <br />SECTION 1.08. <br />3. PROVIDE NEW THERMOSTATS OR TEMPERATURE SENSORS. <br />4. PROVIDE ALL CONNECTING PIPING, DUCTWORK, DIFFUSERS AND GRILLES; <br />COORDINATE INSTALLATION OF HVAC WORK WITH ALL OTHER TRADES DESCRIBED BY THE PROJECT <br />CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS, IN PARTICULAR, ALL WORK ABOVE NEW AND EXISTING SUSPENDED CEILINGS, <br />INCLUDING: <br />1. ELECTRICAL MODIFICATIONS TO LIGHTING, POWER AND SYSTEMS PROVIDED UNDER <br />DIVISION 26, INCLUDING SECURITY AND FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS; <br />2. EXISTING PLUMBING AND HVAC PIPING SYSTEMS; <br />3. ARCHITECTURAL AND STRUCTURAL MODIFICATIONS - WALLS AND UNCLASSIFIED <br />INTERIOR PARTITIONS. <br />1.04 PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS: <br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL REQUIRED PERMITS, INSPECTIONS AND PAY ALL FEES. <br />1.05 PRODUCTS: <br />ALL EQUIPMENT AND APPURTENANCES SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND/OR INDICATED IN THESE <br />SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE NEW, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, AND FREE OF DEFECTS. ALL ELECTRICAL <br />POWERED EQUIPMENT SHALL BE U.L. OR E.T.L. LISTED. <br />1.06 SUBSTITUTIONS: <br />EQUIPMENT AND WORK DESCRIBED ON THE DESIGN DRAWINGS AND WITHIN THESE SPECIFICATIONS ARE <br />THE BASIS OF DESIGN AND "SPECIFIED STANDARD" OF QUALITY. NO SUBSTITUTIONS SHALL BE MADE <br />WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL OF THE ENGINEER/OWNER. <br />THE ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE COORDINATED BY THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR AND <br />EQUIPMENT VENDOR WITH THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO SUBMITTING BIDS. FAILURE OF THE <br />MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR AND THE VENDOR TO DO SO WILL NOT BE CAUSE FOR A CHANGE OF BID AT A <br />LATER TIME. IT WILL NOT BE THE ELECTRICIAN'S RESPONSIBILITY TO COORDINATE REVISED ELECTRICAL <br />REQUIREMENTS DUE TO EQUIPMENT CHANGES INITIATED BY THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR AND VENDOR. <br />IN ADDITION, THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL <br />CHANGES TO ENGINEERING PLANS REQUIRED BY THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION. <br />1.07 SHOP DRAWINGS AND SUBMITTALS: <br />SUBMIT FOR ENGINEER'S APPROVAL, SHOP DRAWINGS AND MANUFACTURER'S DATA, IN ELECTRONIC <br />FORMAT FOR ALL NEW EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES PRIOR TO PURCHASE AND OR FABRICATION. <br />SHOP DRAWINGS FOR EQUIPMENT REQUIRING ELECTRICAL POWER OR CONTROL WIRING CONNECTIONS <br />SHALL INCLUDE COMPLETE WIRING DIAGRAMS. <br />1.08 SUBCONTRACT FOR CERTIFIED TEST AND BALANCE: <br />SUBMIT QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS OF THE PROPOSED TEST AND BALANCE SUBCONTRACTOR. <br />THE SUBCONTRACTOR MUST BE CERTIFIED BY THE ASSOCIATED AIR BALANCE COUNCIL OR NATIONAL <br />ENVIRONMENTAL BALANCING BUREAU. SUBMITTAL OF MULTIPLE TEST ADJUST AND BALANCE CONTRACTORS <br />IS ACCEPTABLE FOR COMPETITIVE BIDDING OF WORK. <br />1.09 RELATED WORK SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE <br />REFER TO ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATION (DIV. 26) FOR ELECTRICAL WORK TO BE DONE IN CONJUNCTION <br />WITH THE MECHANICAL WORK. THIS CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CONDUIT, WIRING, JUNCTION <br />BOXES, ETC., REQUIRED FOR HVAC CONTROLS. <br />INSTALL DUCT SMOKE DETECTOR FURNISHED BY DIVISION 26 IN SUPPLY AIR DUCTS OF AIR HANDLING UNITS <br />EXCEEDING 2,000CFM AND WHERE INDICATED ON DRAWINGS. DETECTOR TO SHUT UNIT DOWN WHEN <br />ACTIVATED. <br />1.10 WORKMANSHIP <br />ALL MATERIALS SHALL BE FABRICATED AND INSTALLED IN A NEAT AND WORKMANLIKE MANNER WITH THE <br />COORDINATION OF ALL INVOLVED TRADES TO AVOID INTERFERENCES AND DELAY DUE TO LACK OF <br />COORDINATION. NO ALLOWANCES WILL BE MADE FOR REWORK DUE TO COORDINATION DIFFICULTIES OR <br />INTERFERENCES BETWEEN INVOLVED TRADES. <br />1.11 AS-BUILTS <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE ENGINEER TWO (2) SETS OF COMPLETE HVAC AS -BUILT DRAWINGS AT <br />THE TIME OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION. AS-BUILTS SHALL BE PROVIDED IN HARD COPY AND AUTOCAD <br />DRAWING FILES [RELEASE 2014 OR PRIOR]. AS -BUILT DRAWINGS SHALL CONSIST OF AN ACCURATE "AS - <br />BUILT" RECORD OF THE INSTALLED WORK. PROJECT WILL NOT BE COMPLETE UNTIL ACCURATE AS-BUILTS <br />ARE DELIVERED. <br />PART 2 MECHANICAL TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: <br />2.01 GENERAL <br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL HVAC EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS TO ACCOMPLISH THE WORK <br />DESCRIBED ON THESE DRAWINGS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. <br />INSPECT ALL CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS PRIOR TO FABRICATION OR INSTALLATION. AIR FLOW REQUIRED SHALL NOT EXCEED THE <br />SCHEDULED NC RATING AS DEFINED IN THE LATEST AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HEATING, REFRIGERATING AND <br />AIR CONDITIONING ENGINEERS GUIDE. <br />MANUFACTURED PRODUCTS OF TITUS, HART & COOLEY, PRICE, METAL-AIRE OR ALTERNATES MAY BE <br />FURNISHED, SUBJECT TO SUBMITTAL REVIEW BY THE OWNER'S ENGINEER. <br />2.03 FLEXIBLE DUCT: <br />FLEXIBLE DUCTWORK SHALL BE ACOUSTICAL LOW PRESSURE TYPE WITH INTERIOR LINER, METAL HELIX, <br />FIBERGLASS INSULATION WITH AN R-VALUE OF 6.0 OR GREATER, AND COPOLYMER SEAMLESS OUTSIDE <br />SLEEVE. THE ENTIRE FLEXIBLE DUCT ASSEMBLY SHALL BE LISTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH UL-181 CLASS 1 <br />AIR DUCT MATERIAL. THE MAXIMUM LENGTH OF ANY FLEX DUCT SHALL BE 6-0". FLEXIBLE DUCTWORK SHALL <br />MEET ASHRAE 90.1 ENERGY EFFICIENCY CODE. INSULATION SUNDRIES AND ADHESIVES SHALL BE AS MANUFACTURED BY <br />BENJAMIN FOSTER, CHILDERS, VIMASCO, OR APPROVED EQUAL. <br />INSULATE ALL SHEETMETAL DUCTWORK EXTERNALLY WITH MANVILLE R SERIES MICROLITE TYPE 75 OR 100 <br />INSULATION OR APPROVED EQUAL. REFER TO <br />EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION, SCHEDULES AND APPLICABLE CODES FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, <br />INCLUDING REQUIRED CONNECTION LOCATIONS, TYPES AND SIZES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CORRECT THE CAUSE OF ANY CONDENSATION <br />AND FULLY REPAIR, WITHOUT COST TO THE OWNER, ANY DAMAGES TO BUILDING SURFACES, FURNISHINGS OR <br />EQUIPMENT CAUSED BY CONDENSATION FROM THIS SYSTEM, FOR THE FULL PERIOD OF THE GUARANTEE. <br />FABRICATE AND INSTALL MECHANICAL WORK IN A NEAT AND WORKMAN -LIKE MANNER. THE CONTRACTOR <br />SHALL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR TEARING -OUT AND REPLACEMENT OF ANY WORK OF SUB -STANDARD <br />QUALITY. <br />PERFORM ALL WORK NECESSARY TO PREPARE THE STRUCTURE FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE WORK. <br />ALL HOLES, OPENINGS AND DAMAGED MATERIALS CREATED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REPAIRED <br />AND FINISHED TO MATCH ADJACENT SURFACES. <br />3.03 DUCTWORK FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION <br />VERIFY SIZES, ELEVATIONS AND CONFIGURATION OF EXISTING DUCTWORK BEFORE REMOVAL OF ANY <br />INSTALLED MATERIALS AND BEFORE FABRICATION OF NEW WORK. <br />PROTECT BOTH NEWLY -INSTALLED MATERIALS AND EXISTING SYSTEMS FROM DAMAGE THROUGH <br />COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION. <br />RIGID AND FLEXIBLE DUCT BRANCHES SHALL BE INSTALLED WITHOUT RESTRICTION OF THE AIRSTREAM. <br />3.04 HVAC INSTALLATION <br />NOT ALL COMPONENTS REQUIRED FOR A COMPLETE INSTALLATION ARE SHOWN ON THESE DRAWINGS. <br />FURNISH AND INSTALL PER MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION/OPERATION/MAINTENANCE, APPLICABLE <br />CODES AND DETAILS, INCLUDING REQUIRED CONNECTION LOCATIONS, TYPES AND SIZES. <br />INSPECT ALL COMPONENTS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION AND DETERMINE THAT ALL COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN <br />RECEIVED IN GOOD CONDITION. EQUIPMENT LABELS SHALL MATCH EXISTING IDENTIFICATION, <br />INCLUDING SIGNS OR PLASTIC EQUIPMENT MARKERS PERMANENTLY SECURED TO EQUIPMENT. THE <br />TAGS SHALL INDICATE THE VALVE SIZE, SERVICE AND FUNCTION (IE. 2" CW., MAIN SERVICE SHUTOFF). <br />3.07 HVAC TESTING, ADJUSTING & BALANCING <br />ADJUST SUPPLY DIFFUSERS TO DELIVER NOT LESS THAN THE REQUIRED AIR QUANTITY. AIR FLOWS <br />EXCEEDING SPECIFIED QUANTITIES SHALL BE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE ENGINEER IF FOUND <br />NOT TO HAVE OBJECTIONABLE EFFECTS SUCH AS NOISE, DRAFTS, OR MOTOR OVERLOAD. <br />THE TESTING, ADJUSTING AND BALANCING SUBCONTRACTOR (QUALIFIED BY PRIOR APPROVAL THROUGH <br />THE ENGINEER) SHALL PREPARE AND SUBMIT A TEST, ADJUST AND BALANCE REPORT IN THE ELECTRONIC <br />FORMAT REQUIRED BY THE OWNER. IDENTIFICATION OF ALL AIR TERMINAL DEVICES WITH DESIGN CFM AND ACTUAL <br />CFM. <br />ADDITIONALLY, SYSTEMS DRAWINGS CLEARLY MARKED TO IDENTIFY LOCATION OF EQUIPMENT AND AIR <br />DEVICES TESTED SHALL BE PROVIDED ALONG WITH THE WRITTEN TEST AND BALANCE REPORT. <br />COORDINATE TESTING AND BALANCING REQUIREMENTS WITH THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE FOR RE- <br />START OF ALL AFFECTED HVAC SYSTEMS, INCLUDING NEW EQUIPMENT AND CONTROLS. PROVIDE <br />DOCUMENTS ON CONTRACTOR'S LETTERHEAD INDICATING THAT EACH SYSTEM HAS BEEN PROPERLY <br />CALIBRATED, TESTED AND SETUP. <br />3.08 MAINTENANCE MANUALS/AS-BUILT DRAWINGS <br />PROVIDE COMPLETE MAINTENANCE MANUALS (3 REQUIRED) ON ALL NEW EQUIPMENT. ORGANIZE <br />OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE DATA INTO SUITABLE SETS OF MANAGEABLE SIZE. BIND PROPERLY <br />INDEXED DATA IN INDIVIDUAL, HEAVY-DUTY, 2-INCH, 3-RING VINYL -COVERED BINDERS WITH POCKET <br />FOLDERS FOR FOLDED SHEET INFORMATION. MARK APPROPRIATE IDENTIFICATION ON FRONT AND SPINE <br />OF EACH BINDER. INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF INFORMATION -THE INFORMATION WILL BE <br />TURNED OVER TO THE OWNER AT TIME OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION: <br />OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS <br />SPARE PARTS LIST <br />COPIES OF WARRANTIES <br />WIRING DIAGRAMS <br />INSPECTION REPORTS & APPROVALS <br />SHOP DRAWINGS AND PRODUCT DATA <br />TEST AND BALANCE INFORMATION <br />3.09 WARRANTY/GUARANTEE <br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL WARRANTY/GUARANTEE AND MAINTAIN THE WORK AND MATERIALS AND KEEP <br />SAME IN PERFECT REPAIR AND CONDITION FOR A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR. <br />DEFECTS OF ANY KIND DUE TO FAULTY WORK OR MATERIALS APPEARING DURING THE ABOVE MENTIONED <br />PERIOD SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY MADE GOOD BY THE CONTRACTOR AT HIS OWN EXPENSE TO THE ENTIRE <br />SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER AND ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER.
