Previous versions of
the IBC and FBC required testing to comply with ASTM D1761 Test Method for Mechanical Fasteners in Wood. Both
methods determine a connector's allowable load as the lowest of the following:
1. Lowest ultimate of three tests (or average of 6) with a safety factor of 3
2. Average load at 1/8-inch deflection
3. Calculations per American Wood Council National Design Specification for Wood Construction (NDS
The primary changes in ASTM D7147 are requirements to measure properties of the tested materials, such as steel
strength, fastener strength, and wood specific gravity. The tested ultimate loads must be adjusted when tested
material properties exceed the specified properties.
ICC Evaluation Services (ICC-ES) revised AC13 Acceptance Criteria for Joist Hangers and Similar Devices in
October 2016 to incorporate a methodology to evaluate products to the 20151-Codes. Simpson Strong -Tie is working
on re-evaluating wood construction connector loads to the new standard to update our product evaluation reports to
the 2015 I -Codes. As soon as the updated evaluation reports are completed, we will apply for Florida Product
Approvals.
However, reevaluating a large number of products will take time. While manufacturers work with product certification
agencies to update their wood connector evaluation reports, we recommend that building departments under the
2015 I -Codes and 2017 Florida Codes continue to accept code reports snowing compliance to the 2012 and 2014
editions, respectively, until July 2018.
The information in this letter is valid until 6/302018 wtien it will be re-evaluated by Simpson Strong -Tie. Please visit
www.stronde.com for additional pertinent information. If you have questions or need further assistance regarding
this matter, please contact the Simpson Strong -Tie Engineering Department at 800.999.5099.
Sincerely,
SIMPSON STRONG -TIE COMPANY INC.
Keith Cullum, P.E., LEED AP dvdBDVy
Engineer, Southeast U.S. Branch
Page i of 1
Simpson Strong -Tie Company Inc. 2221 Country Lane McKinney, TX 75069 Phone: 972.542.0326 Fax 972.542.4139 www.suonde.com
W
Z _
O
L
O
Lll U
O
L
V/
U m
O L
w

z J
z
a
SHEET NO.
PA 1.0
h
,mod
A3
FL17244.1
ESR-3455
A23
FL10448.2
ESR-2806
HD210.2
FL17232.3
ESR•3445
HU210-2
FL10856.4
ESR•2549
HD212-2
FL17232.3
ESR-3445
HU212-2
FL10856.4
ESR-2549
HD218
FL17232.3
ESR-3445
HU216
FL10856.5
ESR-2549
HD218-3
FL17232.3
ESR-3445
HU216-3
FL10856.1
ESR-2549
HD28
FL17232.2
ESR-3445
HU26
FL10856.3
ESR-2549
HD28-2
FL17232.3
ESR-3445
HU28-2
FL10856.4
ESR-2549
HD410
FL17232.4
ESR-3445
HU410
FL10858.9
ESR-2549
HD412
FL17232.4
ESR•3445
HU412
FL10856.9
ESR-2549
H0610
FL17232.4
ESR-3445
HU610
FL10856.10
ESR-2549
HD0410
FL17241.7
ESR-3444
HUC0410
FL11488.11
SIM200804
HGA10
FL17699.1
Evaluation Report
HGAIOKT
FL11470.4
SIM200803
HGAM10
FL17699.1
Evaluation Report
HGAMIOKT
FL11470.4
SIM200803
HHCP2
FLt7236.7
ESR-3448
HCP2
FL10447.2
ESR-2551
HTA18
FL17680.4
Evaluation Report
HETA16
FL11473.5
SIM200802
HTA20.18
FL17680.4
Evaluation Report
HETA20
FL11473.5
SIM200802
HTT18
FL17324.2
Evaluation Report
HTT16
FL11496.1
ES-0130
HTT45
FL17324.2
Evaluation Report
HTT22
FL11496.1
ES-0130
HTW18
FL17244.8
ESR-3455
HTS16
FL1045622
ESR-2813
HTW20
FL17244.8
F-SR-3455
HTS20
FL10458.23
ESR-2813
HTW24
FLt7244.8
ESR-3455
HTS24
FL10458.24
ESR-2813
HTW30
FL17244.8
ESR-3455
HTS30
FL10456.28
ESR-2813
HTWM16
FL6223.2
Evaluation Report
HTSM16
FL11473.11
SIM200802
HTVMA20
FL6223.2
Evaluation Report
HTSM20
FL11473.t1
SIM200802
HUGT2
FL6223.3
Evaluation Report
HGT2
FL10456.18
ESR-2613
PRODUCT APPROVAL SPECIFICATION SHEET (2018) March 28, 2018
As required b Florida Statute 553.842 and Florida Administrative Code 9&72 lease provide the information and approval numbers on the building components listed below if the will be utilized on the
Y P P 9 Y
construction project for which you are applying for a building permit.
