Openings from a private garage <br />directly into a room used for sleeping purposes shall not be <br />permitted. Door between garage and residence shall be equipped <br />with solid doors not less than 1 3/8" in thickness, solid or <br />honeycomb -core steel doors not less than 1 3/8" thick, or <br />20-minute fire -rated doors. <br />R302.5.2 Duct Penetration. Ducts in the garage and ducts <br />penetrating the walls or ceilings separating the dwelling from the <br />garage shall be constructed of a minimum No. 26 gage (0.48 mm) <br />sheet steel, 1 inch minimum rigid nonmetallic class 0 or classi <br />duct board, or other approved material and shall have no openings <br />into the garage. <br />R302.5.3 Other Penetrations. Penetrations through the separation <br />required in Section R302.6 shall be protected as required by <br />section R302.11, Item 4. <br />R302.6 Dwelling/Garage Fire Separation. <br />The garage shall be separated from the dwelling as per the <br />following: <br />• From the Residence & Attics - Not Less than 1/2" Gyp. Bd. or <br />equivalent applied to garage side. <br />• From Habitable Rooms Above Garage - Not Less than 5/8" <br />Type-X Gyp. Bd. or equivalent. <br />• Structure(s) Supporting Floor/Ceiling Assemblies - Not Less <br />than 1/2" Gyp. Bd. or equivalent. <br />• Garages Located Less Than 3 Feet From Dwelling On The <br />Same Lot - Not Less than 1/2" Gyp. Bd. or equivalent applied <br />to the interior side of exterior walls that are within this area. <br />R312.2.1 Window Sills. <br />In dwelling units, where the top of the sill of an operable window is <br />located less than 24 inches (610 mm) above the finished floor and <br />greater than 72 inches (1829 mm) above the finished grade or <br />other surface below on the exterior of the building, the operable <br />window shall comply with one of the following: 1. Operable <br />windows with openings that will not allow a 4-inch-diameter (102 <br />mm) sphere to pass through the opening where the opening is in <br />its largest opened position. 2. Operable windows that are provided <br />with window fall prevention devices that comply with ASTM F2090. <br />3. Operable windows that are provided with window opening <br />control devices that comply with Section R312.2.2. <br />Chapter 45 Private Swimming Pools, Section R4501.17.1.9 <br />All doors and windows providing direct access from the home to <br />the pool shall be equipped with an exit alarm complying with UL <br />2017 that has a minimum sound pressure rating of 85 db at 10 <br />feet. Any deactivation switch shall be located at least 54 inches <br />above the threshold of the access. Separate alarms are not <br />required for each door or window if sensors wired to a central <br />alarm sound when contact is broken at any opening. <br />M1507.2 Recirculation of Air. <br />Exhaust air form Bathrooms and toilet rooms shall not be <br />recirculated within a residence or to another dwelling unit and shall <br />be exhausted directly to the outdoors.
