<br />1. Wall Assembly - The 1 or 2 hr fire -rated gypsum wallboard/stud wall assembly shall be
<br />constructed of the materials and in the manner specified in the individual U300 or U400 Series Wall
<br />and Partition Designs in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and shall include the following
<br />construction features:
<br />A. Studs - Wall framing may consist of either wood studs or steel channel studs. Wood studs to
<br />consist of nom 2 by 4 in. lumber spaced 16 in. OC. Steel studs to be min 2-1/2 in. wide and spaced
<br />max 24 in. OC.
<br />B. Gypsum Board, -%in. thick, 4 ft wide with square or tapered edges. The gypsum wallboard type,
<br />thickness, number of layers, fastener type and sheet orientation shall be as specified in the
<br />individual Wall and Partition Design. Max dram of opening 1
<br />s 7-1/2 in.
<br />The hourly F Rating of the firestop system is equal to the hourly fire rating of the wall assembly
<br />in which it is installed.
<br />2. Through Penetrants - One metallic pipe or tubing to be centered within the firestop system. Pipe
<br />or tubing to be rigidly supported on both sides of wall assembly. The following types and sizes of
<br />metallic pipes or tubing may be used:
<br />A. Steel Pipe - Nom 4 in. dram (or smaller) Schedule 40 (or heavier) steel pipe.
<br />B. Copper Tubing - Nom 2 in. dram (or smaller) Type L (or heavier) copper tubing.
<br />C. Copper Pipe - Nom 2 in. dram (or smaller) Regular (or heavier) copper pipe.
<br />3. Tube Insulation - Plastics+ - Nom3yin. thick acrylonitrile butadiene/polyvinyl chloride (AB/PVC)
<br />flexible foam furnished in the form of tubing. An annular space of min 0 in. (point contact)to max
<br />1-1/2 in. is required within the firestop system.

<br />Any Recognized Component tube insulation material meeting the above specifications and having a UL
<br />94 Flammability Classification of 94-5VA may be used.
<br />The hour T Rating of the firestop system is dependent on the hourly fire rating of the wall
<br />assembly in which it is installed, the size and type of through penetrant and the pipe covering
<br />thickness, as shown in the table below:

<br />than 3-1/2 parts of clean sharp sand to 1 part Portland cement (proportioned by volume) and not
<br />more than 50 percent hydrated lime (by cement volume). Vertical joints staggered.

<br />IA. Roof Assembly (Not Shown) - As an alternate to the floor assembly, a fire rated fluted steel
<br />deck roof assembly may be used. The roof assembly shall be constructed of the materials and in the
<br />manner described in the individual P900 Series Roof -Ceiling
<br />Design in the UL Fire Resistance Directory. The hourly rating of the roof assembly shall be equal
<br />to or greater than the hourly rating of the wall assembly.The roof assembly shall include the
<br />following construction features:
<br />A. Steel Roof Deck Max 2 in. deep galv steel fluted roof deck.
<br />B. Roof Insulation Min 2-1/4 in. thick poured insulating concrete, as measured from the top plane
<br />of the floor units.
<br />1B.Roof Assembly As an alternate to Items 1 and lA,a fire rated protected fluted steel deck roof
<br />assembly may be used. The roof assembly shall be constructed of the materials and in the manner
<br />described in the individual P700 Series Roof -Ceiling Design
<br />n the UL Fire Resistance Directory. The hourly rating of the roof assembly shall be equal to or
<br />greater than the hourly rating of the wall assembly. The roof assembly shall include the following
<br />construction features. -

<br />B. Spray - Applied Fire Resistive Materials* (Not Shown)% Prior to the installation of the steel

<br />individual P700 Series design.

<br />A. Forming Material* Min 4 pcf mineral wool batt insulation cut into strips with a width approx
<br />equal to the overall thickness of the wall. Strips compressed 33 percent in thickness and inserted
<br />Into the gap between the top of the wall and the bottom of the floor units. When the void beneath
<br />the
<br />protected steel deck is located entirely above the wall, the void shall be completely filled with
<br />mineral wool insulation compressed 33 percent in thickness. When void beneath the steel deck is
<br />located in part abo
<br />the wall, that portion of the void above the wall shall be packed with additional strips of
<br />mineral wool batt insulation compressed 33 percent in thickness.
