ACCEPTANCE TEST NOTES <br />ACCEPTANCE TEST: <br />THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM SHALL BE TESTED PER FLORIDA BUILDING CODE <br />( CHAPTER 9 FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM ) AND FLORIDA FIRE PREVENTION CODE. <br />THE TESTS SHALL BE CONDUCTED IN THE PRESENCE OF THE BUILDING CODE <br />OFFICIAL. <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION AND OWNER'S <br />REPRESENTATIVE OF THE TIME AND DATE TESTING WILL BE PERFORMED. <br />ACCEPTANCE TEST RECOREDS SHALL BE RETAINED FOR THE LIFE OF THE SYSTEM <br />( SUBSEQUENT TESTS SHALL BE COMPARED WITH THE ACCEPTANCE TEST). <br />ACCEPTANCE TEST SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 13, STANDARD FOR THE <br />INSTALLATION OF SPRINKLERS SYSTEM. <br />HYDROSTATIC TESTS: <br />THE NEW FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM ( PIPING AND ATTACHED APPURTENANCES ) <br />SUBJECTED TO SYSTEM WORKING PRESSURE SHALL BE ISOLATED AND <br />HYDROSTATICALLY TESTED AT 200 PSI AND SHALL MAINTAIN THAT PRESSURE <br />WITHOUT LOSS FOR 2 HOURS. <br />LOSS SHALL BE DETERMINED BY A DROP IN GUAGE PRESSURE OR VISUAL LEAKAGE. <br />THE TEST PRESSURE SHALL BE READ FROM A GUAGE LOCATED AT THE LOW <br />ELEVATION POINT OF THE SYSTEM BEING TESTED. <br />SYSTEM OPERATIONAL TESTS: <br />WATERFLOW DETECTING DEVICES INCLUDING THE ASSOCIATED ALARM CURCUITS <br />SHALL BE FLOW TESTED THROUGH THE INSPECTOR'S TEST CONNECTION AND <br />SHALL RESULT IN AN AUDIBLE ALARM ON THE PREMISES WITHIN 5 MINUTES <br />AFTER SUCH FLOW BEGINS AND UNTIL SUCH FLOW STOPS. <br />THE MAIN DRAIN VALVE SHALL BE OPENED AND REMAIN OPEN UNTIL THE SYSTEM <br />PRESSURE STABILIZES. <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL RECORD THE STATIC AND RESIDUAL PRESSURES ON THE <br />TEST CERTIFICATE <br />OPERATING TEST: <br />CONTROL VALVE SHALL BE FULLY CLOSED AND OPENED UNDER SYSTEM WATER <br />PRESSURE TO ENSURE PROPER OPERATION. <br />FIRE PROTECTION ABBREVIATIONS <br />A.F. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP A SET OF MARKED UP DRAWINGS AS THE JOB PROGRESSES. <br />NO MAJOR CHANGE SHALL BE MADE TO FIRE PROTECTION DESIGN/ENGINEERING UNLESS <br />IT HAS BEEN COORDINATED, DRAWN AND SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL TO THE ARCHITECT. <br />8. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS AS DESCRIBED IN NFPA 13 (2002) CHAPT.14 <br />TO OWNERS INS. CO. AND LOCAL AND STATE FIRE AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION. <br />AFTER OBTAINING THESE APPROVALS SUBMIT THESE DRAWINGS TO ARCHITECT/ENGINEER <br />FOR THERE REVIEW. ALL OF THESE APPROVALS AND REVIEWS SHALL BE COMPLETED <br />BEFORE START OF PROJECT CONSTRUCTION. <br />9. CONTINUITY OF SERVICES: EXISTING BUILDING WILL REMAIN IN USE DURING CONSTRUCTION <br />OPERATIONS. ALL PENETRATIONS THROUGH WALLS AND FLOORS SHALL BE SLEEVED AND/OR PATCHED <br />AS DIRECTED BY THE SPECIFICATIONS. PATCHING SHALL MATCH EXISTING FINISH. <br />(SEE ARCH. DRAWINGS). <br />12. THIS PROJECT INVOLVES THE ADDITION OF 10 OR LESS AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER HEADS. <br />ACCORDINGLY, SUBMISSION OF COMPLETE AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION <br />DOCUMENTS BY THE ENGINEER OF RECORD ARE NOT REQUIRED. <br />13. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE SPRINKLER SYSTEM OUTAGES WITH OWNER SO THAT A <br />FIRE WATCH IS MAINTAINED DURING THOSE OUTAGES. AT OWNERS OPTION THE CONTRACTOR <br />SHALL RE -ACTIVATE THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM DURING NON -CONSTRUCTION HOURS IN <br />ORDER TO MAINTAIN FULL SPRINKLER COVERAGE IN AREA OF RENOVATION. <br />FIRE PROTECTION DEMOLITION NOTES <br />1) CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE INACTIVE EXISTING SERVICES <br />TO FIRE SPRINKLERS AND EQUIPMENT THAT HAS BEEN OR WILL BE <br />REMOVED TO ALLOW FOR THIS NEW CONSTRUCTION. <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL CAP ACTIVE SERVICES NEXT TO MAINS <br />ABOVE CEILING, IN WALLS OR BELOW FLOORS, SO AS NOT TO <br />INTERFERE WITH NEW ARRANGEMENT OF RENOVATED AREA. <br />2) WHERE EXISTING FIRE PROTECTION EQUIPMENT, AUTOMATIC <br />SPRINKLER HEADS AND RELATED ITEMS ARE TO BE REMOVED <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT COMPLETE LIST TO THE OWNER. <br />ALL ITEMS THAT THE OWNER WISHES TO RETAIN SHALL BE <br />DELIVERED TO BUILDING STORAGE WHERE DIRECTED BY OWNER. <br />ITEMS THAT OWNER DOES NOT WISH TO RETAIN SHALL BE DISPOSED <br />OF LEGALLY. <br />3) CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CUTTING AND PATCHING <br />REQUIRED BY HIS WORK.
