Required guards at open -sided walking surfaces, including stairs,
porches, balconies or landings, shall be not less than 36 inches in height as measured vertically above the
adjacent walking surface or the line connecting the leading edges of the treads. Required guards shall not have
openings from the walking surface to the required guard height that allow passage of a sphere 4 inches in
diameter.
Under -stair protection:
Enclosed space under stairs that is accessed by a door or access panel shall have walls, under -stair surface and
any soffits protected on the enclosed side with 1/2-inch gypsum board.
3/4" PLYWOOD
DECKING
i"
60
VARIES, 2" LESS THAN
CABINETS BELOW
MIRROR
VARIES
U
W
>
MEDICINE ! o
CABINET O0
0
0
LL Q
ILL Q
C> >
04 >
0
MIRROR
i
r
J
i
0.
