ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS
<br />1.1 SCOPE
<br />A. WORK INCLUDED: Include the following Work in addition to Rome normally part of this Section:
<br />01 Wiring for lighting arW power.
<br />02 Installation of lighting fixtures with lamps.
<br />03 Ughting ponelboards and distribution poneiboards.
<br />04 Connection of equipment shown.
<br />05 Control wiring.
<br />08 Disconnection and removal of existing fixtures and wiring not to be reused.
<br />1.2 MINIMUM COMPLIANCE STANDARDS
<br />A. NI work shall be done In accordance with the requirements of the following:
<br />01 Florida Building Code Sixth Edition (2020).
<br />02 Florida Building Code — Electrical Conservation Sixth Edition (2020). Section C405.
<br />03 2017 issue of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70).
<br />04 All Receptacle Control to conform to ASHRAE Standard 90.1. 8.4.2. 2010.
<br />05 Wiring in Patient Care Areas shall comply with NEC 517.
<br />06 Other applicable NFPA Codes.
<br />07 Regulation of local authorities having Jurisdiction.
<br />B. Furnish and Install all labor. material and equipment and services necessary for complete and
<br />safe installation of the electrical system indicated on the drawings and noted In the
<br />specifications hereinafter. Electrical systems and equipment shall in general Include the following.,
<br />01 General provisions for electrical work.
<br />02 Wk ing, distribution equipment and devices.
<br />03 Lighting fixtures and lamps.
<br />04 Grounding system.
<br />1.3 GENERAL PROVISIONS FOR ELECTRICAL WORK
<br />A. DRAWINGS: Electrical drawings considered diagrammatic and Indicate general arrangement of work
<br />and systems. Refer to other drawings to verify location of equipment, eto. Check drawings of
<br />other trades to verify exact space condition or underground lines. Drawing Scala prohibit the
<br />Indication of all offsets, fittings and accessories required, however then Rome will be
<br />provided by this subcontractor at no extra cost to the owner.
<br />B. QUALITY OF MATERIALS: New. best of their respective kind, free from defects, and listed by
<br />Underwriter's Laboratories. Inc, or bearing their label.
<br />C. SHOP DRAWINGS: Submit four (4) copies of shop drawings for lighting fixturn and panelboards.
<br />Obtain approval before equipment is ordered, built or installed.
<br />D. EXCAVATION AND BACKFILLING: Excavate, backfill and restore surfaces for all electrical work.
<br />E. Visit site and inspect existing facilities before bid in order to ensure proper evaluation of
<br />working conditions and location of existing equipme%.
<br />1.4 WIRING. DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT AND DEVICES
<br />A. CONDUCTORS: Copper, in accordance with ASTM Standards. size references AWG. Conductors No. 10 and '
<br />smaller size solid. No. 8 and larger stranded. insulation of conductor thermoplastic, type THHN
<br />(min. slze. No. 12) any who installed outside, underground, in slabs, or exposed to moisture
<br />shall have THWN Insulation.
<br />B. RACEWAYS: RIGID STEEL CONDUIT, full weight pipe galvanized, threaded, and minimum 1/2 inch except
<br />as noted or required for wiring. ELECTRICAL METALLIC TUBING (EMT). thin wall pipe, galvanized. threadMm
<br />oommoslon fittings, and minimum 1/2" except as noted or required for wiring. FLEXIBLE STEEL CONDUIT,
<br />continuous einglestrip, galvanized, and minimum 1/2" size except as noted or required for wiring. PVC
<br />CONDUIT. heavy duty type. size as indicated. Separate raceways shall be used for each voltage system.
<br />Type AC or MC Cable where permitted.
<br />C. DISCONNECT SWITCHES: General Duty, horsepower rand for motor loode 600 or 250 volt rating. fused
<br />or non —fused as noted; number of poles as Indicated, cover interlocked with switch. Enclosure
<br />NEMA 1 for Indoor use and NEMA 3R for weatherproof applications. Switch to be Square "D" or equal
<br />0. CIRCUIT BREAKERS: Molded case. thermal —magnetic quick —make. quick —break, bolt —on type with
<br />manually operated insulated trip —fro" handle. Multi —pole Types with internal common trip bar.
<br />Terminals suitable for copper or aluminum conductors. Interrupting capacity minimum 10.000 RMS
<br />symmetrical amperes circuit breakers to be Square "D" or equal, type as required.
<br />E. PANELBOARDS: Voltage, phasing and ampere ratings as Indicated. circuit breaker type as indicated,
<br />busbars of hard drawn copper, minimum 989 conductivity, galvanized steel back box. door and trim.
<br />All comers lapped and welded, hardware chrome plated with flush look and catch. Hinges soml—
<br />concealed, 5 knuckle steel with nonferrous pins, 180 degree openings. Minimum gutter space 5-
<br />3/4" sides, top and bottom. Increase size where required by code. Directory holder complete
<br />with clear plastic transparent cover indicating typewritten list of feeder cables, conduit sizes,
<br />circuit numbers, outlets of equipment supplied, and their location. Circuit breaker type
<br />ponelboards to be Square "D" type NOOD or I —Line, or equal. A plastic label "hall be located on exterior of
<br />ponslboard Identifying the system voltage, phase, and current rating.
<br />F. WIRING DEVICES: AN devices the product of the same manufacturer. Wall switches single pole. 20
<br />ampere, 120 volt. Wall switches three—way, 20arrpers. 120 volt. Receptacles duplex, 2 wire; 3
<br />pole grounded, 20 ampere, 120 volt.
<br />G. DEVICE PLATES: Provide for all outlets where devices are installed. Provide engraved marking for
<br />special outlets. Provide blank plans for empty or future outlet boxes. DEVICE AND DEVICE PLATES
<br />COLORS TO BE VERIFIED WITH INTERIOR DESIGNER AND OWNER.
<br />1.5 LIGHTING FIXTURES AND LAMPS
<br />A. Furnish and Install complete system of lighting fixtures, lamps, accessories and supports as
<br />specified and Indicated. Submittals of equal quality are allowed.
<br />1.8 GROUNDING SYSTEM
<br />A. EQUIPMENT: Ground non —current carrying metal parts of ponelboard, raceways and all lighting
<br />fixtures. All oonduio shall have equipment grounding conductors.
<br />1.7 INSTALLATION
<br />A. Secure all supports to building structure. Support horizontal runs
<br />of metallic conduit not more than 10 feet apart. Run exposed raceways parallel with or at right
<br />angles to walls.
<br />B. Pan raceways over water, steam or other piping when pull boxes are not required. No raceway
<br />within 3 inches of steam or hot water pipes, or appliances, except crossings where raceway shall
<br />be at least 2 inches from pipe cover.
<br />C. Cut conduit ends square, room smooth. Point male threads of field threaded conduit with graphite
<br />ban pipe compound. Draw up tight with condult couplings.
<br />D. Leave wire sufficiently long to permit making final connections. In raceways over 50 feet in
<br />which wiring is not installed, furnish pull wire.
<br />E. Verify locations of outlets and switches.
<br />F. Support panel, junction and pull boxes independently to building structure with no weight bearing
<br />on conduits.
<br />G. Connect conduit to motor conduit terminal boxes with flexible conduit; minimum 18 inches in
<br />length and 5OX slack. Do not terminate in or fasten raceways to motor foundatlon.
<br />H. Contractor to remove and salvage all abandoned electrical squirrent. a
<br />1. This contractor shall warrant all labor and materials for one year from dote of final written
<br />acceptance.
<br />J. Owner assumes responsibility to do periodic maintenance on all Aluminum Wire Connections and will
<br />provide a signed letter to attest to this agreement.
<br />K. Contractor will provide to the Building Owner, within 30 days after the date of the system accepton% ; record
<br />drawings of the actual installation Documents and Manuals per C405.6.4
<br />L Contractor shall provide construction documents that certify lighting controls meet performance criteria 'of
<br />Section C405 of the Florida Building Code Sixth Edition (201 Energy Conservatlon, and provided to the
<br />Building Owners within 90 days of receipt of the Cortificate Occupancy per C408.3.2 of the some code.

<br />A. Low Voltage wiring drawings to be provided by others.
