Several trusses have been altered by <br />the previous building owner in order to provide a storage room in <br />the attic of the building. Alteration of these trusses was accom- <br />lished by removing the center two diagonal web members. Approxi- <br />mately 12 to 15 inches of the ends of the diagonal web members <br />together with the metal gusset plates are still in place. <br /> <br />An acceptable method of repair would be to remove all sheetrock <br />from the modified room area. Reconstruct the diagonal web members <br />by replacing them with 2 x 4 members overlapping the remaining ends <br />of the original members. The new members are to be connected to <br />the remaining ends by installing (2) 5/16" bolts with flat washers <br />at each overlap. All existing horizontal and vertical framing from <br />which sheetrock has been removed, can remain in place. <br /> <br />If you have any questions or encounter any difficulties during <br />repair of the trusses, please call me.
