Building Design by eomponent Performance Approach. , <br />Commercial buildirygs of any size m$y comply with this chapter of the Code until <br />December 31, 199r' This chapter calculates the performance of the envelope alone <br />for the entire buildi 9 and utilizes minimum prescriptive measures for equipment <br />components. Non-re:sidential buildings of any size may comply with this chapter of the <br />Code until December 31, 1993. SeRarata calculations shall be submitted for each <br />occupancy type containing over five percent of the building area. <br />101.1.2 Additions. <br />Additions to existing -aomme.roial buildings are considered new building construction and <br />shall comply with Chapters 4, 5, or a oHhis Code as allowed in section 101.1.1. <br />Additions to existing ~on-resjdentiarbuildings that are unable to comply with Code <br />requirements for the ~ddition alone may comply with the Code by bringing the entire <br />building into compliance with the requlr~ments for new buildings. <br />101.1.3 Renovations. <br />Renovated commerci.' buildings shall, when applicable (see section 202, Renovations), <br />comply with the Qra'Scrieti~ir~Wid!.s contained In Chapter 5 of the Code before <br />January 1, 1994, and Wltn~ethod 8 of Chapter 4 after January 1, 1994, for insulation, <br />HVAC systems, Iighti~g, water heating systems and exterior envelope components <br />being retrofitted or reRlaced.
