wheelock
THE SIGNAL SOURCEsM

Description

The new MT Series, Multitone electronic signals from Wheelock;' Inc. rep-
resent, the next gener(,ltion of alarm signaling appliances. With solid state
electronic design and high impact thermoplastic construction, MT Series
products offer a level of durability and reliability that exceeds conventional,
electro-mechanical alternatives.

Wheelock's new MT and MT Strobe alarm signals offer a choice from eight
(8) nationally and internationally recognized alerting sounds: Horn, Bell,
March Time Horn, Code-3 Tone, Code-3 Horn, Slow Whoop, Siren or HilLo
Tone. Our Code-3 horn and tone ~atterns are engineered to comply with
Temporal Pattern specifications without requiring additional code mecha-
nism. With MT and MT Strobe signals, one alarm appliance meets most of
your signaling needs.

Each MT and MT Strobe appliance is equipped with two user selective sound
output levels: STANDARD dBA and HIGH dBA. The MT and MT Strobe
signal are available for either 12 VDC or 24 VDC operating voltages. Whee-
lock MT Series Electronic Signals may be used with filtered or unfiltered (full
wave rectified) input voltages.

MT Strobe models use 12 VDC or 24 VDC Xenon flash tube with 15 candela
or 117 candela rating for cqmpliance with the Americans With Disabilities
Act. Separate input terminals are available, and shunt wires are provided to
enable both tone and strobe to operate simultaneously from a single input.

MT Series signals have IN and OUT wiring terminations that accept two
#12-18 American Wire Gauge (AWG) wires at each terminal. Inputs are
polarized for compatibility with standard reverse polarity type supervision
circuits.

Wheelock's new MT Series signals feature a designer appearance that elim-
inates ALL visible mounting hardware. Our patent pending design uses snap-
in covers to hide all mounting holes and provide an attractive installation.
Designed for surface or flush mounting, MT signals may be used indoors
or outdoors with the proper mounting hardware. Each device includes a built-
in trimplate that avoids additional hardware considerations. Mount our MT
Series signals to standard 4" square (2'/0" deep) or/2-gang (2'/2" deep)
electrical box or to Wheelock model lOB Backbox for indoor/outdoor surface
mounting.

Features
o Onc alarm appliance to meet most of your signaling requirements. Switch
sclective for Horn, Bell, March Time Horn, Code-3 Horn, Code-3 Tone,
Slow Whoop, Siren or HilLo Tone.
· Code-3 Horn and Tone incorporate temporal pattern recommended by
ANSI/NFPA/ISO for standard emergency evacuation signaling.
· Field selective sound output levels (2); either STANDARD dBA or HIGH
dBA up to 106 dBA @ 10 feet (peak meter response).
o Low power consumption and limited in-rush current.
· 12 VDC and 24 VDC operating voltage settings (MT Strobe versions
factory set).
CI MT Strobe models available with 15 or 117 candela ratings for independent
or single input activations (117 candela ADA compliant).
· Polarized inputs for compatibility with standard reverse polarity type su-
perviSion of circuit wiring by an alarm panel.
· Low cost installation via standard electrical boxes (4" sq. or 2-gang for
easy retrofit). No additional trim plate required for flush mounting. In/Out
screw terminals.
· No visible mounting hardware. Indoor and outdoor surface mount option.
· RFI suppression to ensure compatibility with sensitive alarm detection
circuits.
· U.L. Listed for Fire Protective Service.

Copyright 1993 Wheelock, Inc. Notification appliances shall be elec-
tronic in design and shall use solid state components. Elec-
tro-mechanical alternatives shall not be used.
Each electronic signal shall be equipped with eight field
selective alarm tones: Horn, Bell, March Time Horn, Code-
3 Horn, Code-3 Tone, Slow Whoop, Siren or HilLo Tone.
Individual device tone selection shall be set via durable
switch assembly; clips or jumpers for tone setting are not
acceptable. Notification devices which do not provide an
electronically generated Bell tone or the ANSI/NFPAlISO
recommended Code-3 (temporal) pattern as a standard
tone option shall not be used.
Each alarm signal shall be equipped with field settings
for two sound output levels; STANDARD and HIGH dBA.
Each alarm tone shall operate at either Standard or High
dBA selling as required to meet installed conditions. The
HIGH dBA setting shall result in minimum 5 dBA gain in
sound output regardless of operating vollilge. Peak dBA
measurement for alarm horn settings shall be 106 dBA.
Operating voltages shall be either 12 VDC or 24 VDC.
Signals shall operate from either filtered or unfiltered power
supply (full wave rectified).
Combination audiblelvisual signals shall incorporate a
Xenon flash tube. Strobe shall flash at rate of 1 flash per
second, with 117 candela rating for compliance with the
American's With Disabilities Act. Strobe elements shall be
activated via independent input or from the same input
circuit as the audible.
}J1odels for both indoor and outdoor installation shall be
provided. Each indoor installation may be surface or flush
mounted. For flush type mounting, alarm signals shall
mount to standard electrical hardware requiring no addi-
tionaltrimplate or adaptor. No mounting hardware or holes
shall be visible upon completion of each device installation.

WHEELOCK, INC.. 273 BRANCHPORT AVENUE. LONG BRANCH, N. J.07740. (908) 222-6880.
