<br />2002 National Electrical Code <br /> <br />210.8 Ground-Fault Circuit-Interrupter Protection for Personnel <br /> <br />(A) Dwelling Units <br />All 125-volt , single-phase, 15- and 20-ampere receptacles installed in the locations <br /> <br />specified in (1) through (8) shall have ground-fault circuit-interrupter protection for <br />(1) Bathrooms <br />Garages, and also accessory buildings that have a floor located at or below <br /> <br />(2) grade level not intended as habitable rooms and limited to storage areas, <br /> <br />work areas, and areas of similar use <br />Exception No.1: Receptacles that are not readily accessIble. <br />Exception No.2: A single receptacle or a duplex receptacle for two appliances <br /> <br />located within dedicated space for each appliance that, in normal use, is not easily <br /> <br />moved from one place to another and that is cord-and-pug connected in accordance <br />with 4007(A)(6J, (A)(7J, or (A)(8). <br />(3) Outdoors <br /> <br />210.11 Branch Circuits Required <br />(C) Dwelling Units <br />(3) Bathroom Branch Circuits. In addition to the number of branch circuits <br />required by other parts of this section, at least one 20-ampere branch <br />circuit shall be provided to supply the bathroom receptacle outlet(s). Such <br />circuits shall have no other outlets. <br />Exception: Where the 20-ampere circuit supplies a single bathroom, outlets for other <br />equipment within the same bathroom shall be permitted to be supplied in accordance <br />with 21023(A). <br /> <br />422.2 Support of Ceiling-Suspended (Paddle) Fans <br />(A) Ceiling-Suspended (Paddle) Fans 16 kg (35 Ib) or Less. <br />Ceiling suspended (paddle) fans that do not exceed 16 kg (35 Ibs) in <br />weight, with or without accessories, shall be permitted to be supported by <br />outlet boxes identified for such use and supported in accordance with <br />214.23 and 314.27. <br />
