I
..
~

Architectural Testing

June 2, 2003

Marsh Fembaugh, Director of Testing
Alside Window Company
3773 State Road
Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44309-1365

RE: Masonry Installation of6100 Series Sliding Glass Door: 7' 9" x 6' 10" (OX)

Dear Mr. Fembaugh:

I have performed an installation fastener analysis for your 6100 Series sliding glass door.
The size considered was a 7' 9" wide by 6' 10" tall. The design wind pressure for this
door was determined to be 40.0 psf as documented in CAN-BEST performance test
report LOO-263-711a.

My analysis assumed using 3/16" diameter Tapcon anchors with a minimum embedment
of 1-114". To safely resist the design wind pressure, 12 such anchors are required. At
installation, use three anchors in each jamb: one near the top and bottom comers and one
at midspan and three anchors in the head and sill: one near each comer and one near
midspan.

This installation detail is appropriate for smaller doors oftms model subjected to the
same design wind pressure. If you have any questions regarding my analysis, please
contact me.

Sincerely,

ARCHITECTURAL TESTING, INC

130 Derry Court
York, PA 17402-9405
phone: 717.764.7700
fax: 717.764.4129
www.archtest.com

JAR:jar

cc: 01-41462.01
