A written request from this office shall <br />,constitute' an officia2 notice, to pay additional fees. <br />That the owner shal~ comply with all City, State and Federa.J. laws' in regard to <br />social security, workman's compensation, lien ~aws, etc., where applicable. <br />That the owner shall comply with a~l the safety codes issued by the Florida <br />Industria~ Commission. ' <br />State law requires construction to be done by ~icensed contractors. You have <br />app~ied for a permit under an exemption to that ~aw. The exemption allows <br />you, as the own,er of your property, to act as your own contractor with certain <br />restrictions even though you do not have a ~icense. You must provide direct <br />ons:ite supervision of the construction yourse~f. You mci.y bui~d or imprc:ve ,a <br />one-family or two-family residence or a far.m outbui~ding. You may also build <br />or improve a commercia~ bui~ding, provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. <br />The bu:i.~ding or residence must be for your own use or occupancy. I:t may not <br />be bu:i.lt or, s;msta.ntial~y improved 'for sa~e or ~ease. You may not hire an unJ.icensed person to act as your contractor or <br />to supervise peop~e working on your building. I:t is your respons:ibi~i ty to <br />make sure that people emp~oyed by you have licenses required by state law and <br />by county or municipal licens:i.ng ordinances. You may not delegate the <br />responsibi~ity for supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not <br />~ice:a.sed to perfoJ:m the work being done.
