A written request from this office shall <br />,co~titute' an officia~ notice_to pay additio~ fees. <br />Tha~ the owner shall comply with a~~ City, State and Federa~ ~aws' in regard to <br />soc~al security, workman's compensation, lien ~aws, etc., where app~ica:ble. <br />Tha~ the owner shall comp~y with a~~ the safety codes issued by the Florida <br />:Ind~stria~ Commission. <br />Sta~e ~aw requires construction to be done by ~icensed contractors. You have <br />applied for a pe1:mit under an exemption to that ~aw. The exemption allows <br />you, as the OWIl.er of your property, to act as your 0WIl contractor with certain <br />rest~ictions even though you do not have a ~icense. You must provide direct <br />onsirte supervision of the construction yourse~f. You may bui~d or improve ,a <br />one-~amily or two-family residence or a far.m outbui~ding. You may a~so "build <br />or iF,prove a commercial bui~ding, provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. <br />The bui~ding or residence must be for your own use or occupancy. :It may not <br />be bUilt or. s~stantial~y improved 'for sale or ~ease. :If you s&ll ;or' lease a <br />bui~ 'ng yotihave bui~torsubstantially improved yourself within 1 year after <br />the onstXlJ,ction is complete, the law will presUme 'that: you built or <br />subs antial~y improved if for sale or lease, which is a violation of this <br />ex tion. You may not hire an ~icensed person to act as your contractor or <br />to s pervise people working on your building. :It is your responsibi~ity to <br />make sure that peop~e emp~oyed by you have licenses required by state law and <br />by chunty or municipal licensing ordinances. You may not, de~egate the . <br />reStnSibi~ity for superviSing work to .a licensed contractor who is not <br />lic ed to perform the work being done.
