A written request from this office shal~ titute' an officia~ notice,to pay additiona~ fees. the owner shall comply with a~~ City, State and Federal laws' in regard to al security, workman1s compensation I lien ~awsl etc., where app~icable. the owner shal~ comp~y with all the safety codes issued by the Florida strial Commission. e ~aw requires construction to be done by ~icensed contractors. You have ied for' a permit under an exemption to that ~aw. The exemption a~lows as the owner of your property I to act as your own contractor with certain rictions even though you do not have a ~icense. You must provide direct te supervision of the construction yourse~f. You may bui~d or improve ,a family or two-family residence or a far.m outbui~ding. You may also "build mprove a commercia~ bui~dingl provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. bui~ding or residence must be for your own use or occupancy. :It may not uil t or, sUbstantia~~y improved 'for sa~e or ~ease. :If you seJ.l ;or' lease a ding yotihave builtorsubstantia~ly improved your-seif within 1 year after construction is complete, the ~aw wi~l presume that you built or tantially improved if for s~e or ~easel which is a. violation of this tion. You may not hire an unlicensed person to act as your contractor or upervise people work:ing on your building. :It is your responsibi~ity to sure that people employed by you have ~icenses required by state law and ounty or municipal licensing ordinances. You may not, de~egate the onsibility for supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not ed to perform the work being done. Any person working on your building is not licensed must work under your direct supervision and must be oyed by you, which means that you must deduct F.I.C.A. and withholding tax' provide workers' compensation for that employee, a~l as prescribed by iaw. construction must comply with a~~ applicab~e laws, ordinances, building s, and zon.ing regu1.at'ions.
