You have <br />~ied for a permit under an exemption to that ~aw. The exemption a~lows <br />, as the owner of your property, to act as your own contractor with certain, <br />trictions even though you do not have a ~icense. You must provide direct <br />ite supervision of the construction yourself. You may bui~d or impr~ea <br />-fami~y or two-fami~y residence or a far.m outbui~ding. You may also build <br />improve a commercia~ building, provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. <br />bui~ding .or residence must be for your own use or occupancy. It may not <br />bui~t or substantia~~y improved for sa~e or ~ease. If you se~~ or lease a <br />~ding yoti have bui~t orsubstantial~y improved you:rse~f within 1 year after <br />construction is comp~ete, the law wi~~ presume that you bui~t or <br />stantia~~y improved if for sa~e or ~ease, which is a vio~ation of this <br />tion. You may not hire an un~icensed person to act as your contractor or <br />supervise peop~e working on your bui~ding. :rt is your responsibility to <br />e sure that peop~e emp~oyed by you have ~icenses required by state law and <br />county or municipal ~icensing ordinances. You may not de~egate the <br />ponsibi~ity for supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not <br />ensed to perform the work being done.
