Rough Opening <br />This section applies to concrete/masonry wall only. <br />For sheathe wall or open stud wall, refer to <br />Appendix: repare Rough Opening for Sheathed or <br />Open Stud Wall. The appendix also addresses radius or <br />curved tran om top window preparation. <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />Clean ough opening and surrounding sheathing <br />with a lean, dry cloth beginning at the top <br />Coat t e buck and surrounding concrete/masonry <br />with s If-adhesive flashing primer according to <br />manuTI cturer's instructions <br />Cover he exterior wall/buckjoint at the sill with <br />self-ad esive flashing as follows (refer to fig. 4): <br />. idth should be 6"; cut length to sill length + 3" <br />. C t flashing as shown in fig. 4 <br />. C efully apply flashing to face of buck and onto the block wall, making sure <br />to cover the joint between wall and buck <br />. Sooth out any bubbles or creases with a j-roller <br />Place ill pan in rough opening so the open side faces the exterior (fig. 5); if necessary, <br />staple fill pan through the exterior, vertical face only; do not staple through bottom of <br />pan <br />Note: indow sits inside sill pan; the back dam of the sill pan should just clear the <br />back ge of the window frame sill when it is placed in the rough opening. <br />Coat e sill pan and 3" up the side jambs with primer (refer to manufacturer's <br />instru tions for tack time) <br />Apply self-adhesive flashing to the sill pan as follows (refer to fig. 6): <br />. idth should be 6"; cut length to the sill length + 6" <br />. C t flashing as shown in fig. 6 <br />. C efully apply to sill pan (flush with back dam) extending 3" <br />u rough opening sides <br />. F Id onto the sides of the buck <br />. P ess flashing tightly into corners; smooth out any bubbles/ <br />c eases with a j-roller <br />Cove the exterior wall/buck joint at the sides with self-adhesive <br />flash~g as follows (refer to fig. 7): <br />. idth should be 6"; cut length to rough opening height + 3" <br />. ut flashing as shown in fig. 7 <br />. arefully apply flashing to the buck and masonry <br />Cove the exterior wall/buckjoint at the head; this piece should be <br />cut a 'd applied as described in step 6 (refer to fig. 6) <br />Appl polyurethane sealant to the following locations (fig. 8): <br />. ack comers of sill pan <br />. ront comers of sill pan <br />cross flashing/masonry joint at comers of masonry opening <br />cross back dam of sill pan <br />diamond lath to all flashed surfaces to be covered by stucco <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />Fig. 4.
