<br />Buckstrips must be set in a bead of sealant. The exterior joint
<br />between the buckstrip and masonry must also be sealed.
<br />Buckstrips shall run the entire length of the rough opening. A
<br />buckslrip is not necessary at the sill if it is pre-cast. All gaps
<br />must be sealed. Buckstrips should be pressure treated yellow
<br />pine, spruce or comparable lumber. In accordance with the
<br />Florida Building Code, a taper, or bevel on the buck is
<br />acceptable if the window frame is fully supported by the
<br />bucks trip at both the interior and exterior.

<br />Installation fasteners for windows should
<br />
<br />be a minimum 11". 4d nail or 6 x 11" drywall screw,
<br />
<br />with an embedment of at least 11". Fasteners
<br />should be located at a maximum of 4" from each
<br />comer and 18" O.C. for screws and 9" O,C. for
<br />nails.
<br />It is recommended that all screws or
<br />naIls be sealed to pre\'ent infiltration of air and
<br />water. Product may be shimmed as necessary.

<br />Weatherproofing:
<br />
<br />Flexible flashing should be installed in a
<br />weatherboard fashion. The top layer should overlay
<br />any layer beneath it. The weather resistant barrier
<br />should then cover the flexible flashing at the
<br />header.
<br />The application of the weather resistant
<br />barrier will vary based on when it is installed. If it
<br />is installed after the window, it should be tucked
<br />under the sill flashing and overlap the jambs and
<br />head l1ashing.

<br />Sliding Glass Door Installation:
<br />
<br />Installation fasteners for jambs and
<br />
<br />header should be a minimum #10 x 11" screw.
<br />Installation fasteners for the track should be a
<br />
<br />minimum 11" masonry screw. All fasteners should
<br />
<br />have an embedment of at least It". Fasteners
<br />should be located at a maximum of 4" from each
<br />comer and 18" O.c. for screws.
<br />It is recommended that all screws be
<br />sealed to prevent infiltration of air and water.
<br />
<br />Product may be shimmed up to t" if necessary.
<br />
<br />W eatherprooting:
<br />
<br />Flexible t1ashing should be installed in a
<br />weatherboard fashion, The top layer should overlay
<br />any layer beneath it. The weather resistant barrier
<br />should then cover the flexible flashing at the
<br />header.
<br />lbe application of the weather resistant
<br />barrier will vary based on when it is installed. If it
<br />is installed after the door, it should be tucked under
<br />the sill flashing and overlap the jambs and head
<br />flashing.
