has an average tensile strength of 1772 lbs. and is mounted to the roof decking of 5/8"
plywood, or %2" O.S.B rated sheathing by five (5) #14 (1/4 ") high -speed steel, or stainless
steel lags having a minimum tensile of 45,000 lbs. The retaining strength of the tie -down
assembly was tested to ultimate extraction at 1052 lbs. tension for 5/8" plywood
sheathing, and 808 lbs. tension for %2" O.S.B. rated sheathing. These extraction values
are reduced by a safety factor of 50% for calculating the restraining forces and placement
of anchorage in an installed system. Calculation tables accompany this analysis.
Each strap has a nominal working strength of 11001b. Apply the straps per the charts
and drawings supplied. Loads for all Sealed Air solar collectors are provided for arrays
numbering two (2) to eleven (11) collectors in a single bank.
Follow the installation instructions for the selected Sealed Air solar collector system.
This documentation is valid for the factory recommended materials and methods for
installing roof mounted framed panel systems in areas with a potential for high wind
conditions. All factory- supplied materials are designed to meet or exceed the above
requirements.
Please direct any questions you may have to:
Richard Beach
Product Engineer
Solar Products Division
Sealed Air Corporation
Phone: 909 - 994 -1791 City of Industry, CA
Fax: 800 -595 -5131 City of Industry, CA
Phone: 510- 887 -8090 Hayward, CA
Page4of4
