You ha.ve applied for a perm=t uxider an exemptioa to that law. The exP�ption allows you, as the owner of your property, tc act as your own contractor with cert=�n restrictions evesi though you do not have a lice�nse. You must provide direct onsite su�ervision of the coastruction yovrsplf. You may build or improve a one-family or tw�-family residsace or a farm outbvildiag. You may also build or a.mprone a commercial buildi.xig, provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. The building or residexice must be for your own use or occupancy. It may not be bvilt or substantially improned for sale or lease. If you sell or lease a building you have bvilt or subst improved yourself withia 1 yaar after the construction is complete, the law wi.l1 pres�e •that you built or substantially i�proved•if for sale or lease, which is a violation of this ex�ption. You may not hire an unlicensed person to act as your coatractor or to supervise people working on your bvilding. 2t is your responsibility to make sure that people employed by you ha.ne liceases reqr by state law aad by county or municipal licensing ordinances. You may not delegate the responsibility for supervisa.ng �vork to a licensed contractor who is not. licensed to perform ttae mork beiag doae. Any parson working on your buil.ding who is not licanssd must work uad�er your direct supervision and must be P�Ployed by you, which meaas that you must cLeduct F.I.C.A. and withholdi.ng tax and provide workers' compensatioa for that employ�e, a11 as prescribed by law.
