The exemption allows you, as the owner of your propE'rty, to act as your own contractor with certaia restrictions even though you do not have a license. You may build or improve a one-family or two-family resideace or a farm outbuilding, You may also build or improve a commercial building, provided your costs do aot exceed $25,DOD. The buildiag or residence must be for your own use or occupancy. It may nct be built or substantially improved for sale or lease. If you se1:l or lease a building you have bvilt or substaatially improved yourself within 1 year after the construction is complete, the la�v ari11 pres�e .that you built or substantially a.mproved if for sale or l�ase, which is a violation of this ex�ption. You may not hire an unlicensad person to act as your coatractor or to suparvise people working on your buildiag. =t is your responsibility to make sure that people employed by you have licenses re� by state law and by county or municipal licensing ordinaaces. You may not delegate the responsibility for supervisiag work to a licensed contractor who is not. licensad to perfo� the �vork being dnae. Any person working on your building who is aot licensed must work vnder your direct su,pesvision and must be Em ployed by you, which meaas that you must deduct F.S.C.A. and withholding tax and provide workers' compeasation for that �ployee, a11 as prescri.bed by law.
