3. It is the responsibility of the architect or engineer to determine if a vapor r�arder <br /> is required. However, Mule-Hide fotlows the NRCA guidelines that recommend a <br /> vapor retarcier be considered when both of two oonditions are anticipated: <br /> a. The outside average January temperature is below 40°F, and <br /> b. The expected interior winter relative humidity is 45 percent or greater. <br /> C. lnsulation <br /> 1. Insulation shall be installed as a protedion layer aver the existing substrate or to <br /> obtain a desired therm� value. <br /> 2. Insulation shall be compatible with the Muls-Hide PVC Membranes or have an <br /> acceptable slipsheet or cover board placed between the insutation and the PVC <br /> roof inembrane. <br /> 3. The #ollowing insulation boards are acceptable for use in a Mule-Hide <br /> Mechanically Attached Roafiing System when a standard warranty is requested: <br /> a. Polyisocyanurate insulations having nonasphaltic meeting or exceeding <br /> the physical property requirements af Fed. Spec HH-1-1972 and having a <br /> minimum compressive resistance af 18 psi. Thickness miromum is 1" or <br /> greater as required by insulation manufacturer to span flutes on metal <br /> decks. <br /> b. High density wood fiberboard with nonasphal6c binders. Boards with <br /> asphalt binders or have been coated with asphalt cannot be used in <br /> direct corrtact with the PVC membrane. Contact the iRSUlation <br /> manufacturer for minimum thidcness requirements when instatling this <br /> board directiy aver a steel deck. <br /> c• Expanded polystyrene with kra�tt taminated facers on both sides or with <br /> an acceptabte slip sheet or cover board placed over no�t-faced boards. <br /> Minimum density of nonfaced boards must be 1.25 PCF and meeting <br /> ASTM C578, Type II physical properties. Contact the EPS (expanded) <br /> manufadurer for minimum thidcness requiremerrts when spanning flutes <br /> on steel decks. <br /> d. Extruded polystyrene meeting ASTM C578, Types N, VI or VH physical <br /> Properties. An acceptable slipsheet or compatible caver board shall be <br /> required over the extruded polystyrene. Check with the EPS (extruded) <br /> manufacturer for minimum thickness requirements when spanning flutes <br /> on steel decks. <br /> 4. Insulation manufadurer shall provide its recommendations for use and <br /> attacfinent to the owner with a co�y to Mule-Hide Products Co. In addition, the <br /> insulation manufacturer shall provide a copy of their specific warranty conditions <br /> if required by the building owner. <br /> 2.05 Precautions <br /> A. Consult Material Safety Data Sheets and container labels for specific safety instructions <br /> prior to use. <br /> B. Avad breathing vapors of solvent, sealant and adhesives. Use with adequate ventilation. <br /> Avoid prdonged contad ofi solverrts, sealants and adhesives with skin. <br /> C. Do not use Mule-Hide PVC roo�fiing pr•oducts near fire orflame. <br /> 7 <br />
