That in �ie evant various phases of coastruction are subcontraated, he wi11 engage only •properly licensed subcontractors and will personally supervise such work. 4. You have applied for a p=T+�+�t under azi exemptioa to that law. �he exemption allows you, as the owner of' your propPS'ty, to act as your own contractor wit� certain restrictions even though you do not have a license. You must provide direct onsite supervision of the constructioa yovrself. You ma.y build or improve a one-family or two-family resideuce or a farm outbuilding. You may also build or improve a commercial building, provided your costs do not exceed $25,OOD. The building or residence must be for yovr own use or oceupancy. St may not be built or substantially improved f'or sale or lease. If you se1:1 or lease a building you have built or substantially i�mproved yovsseZf within 1 year after the construction is complste, the law wi].1 presume that you built or substantially improved •if for sale or laase, which is a violation of this exemption. You may not hire an ualicensed p�2rson to act as your contractor or to supervise people working on your building. 2t is your responsibility to make sure that people employed by you ha.ve licenses re�,;red by state law and by county or municipal licensing ordinances. You may not delegate the responsibility f'or supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not. licansed to pexform the wark being done. Aay parson working on yovr building who is not licensed must work under your direct supervision and must be P�ployed by you, whi.ch means that you must deduct F.2.C.A. axid withholding tax and provide worlcers' compensation for that employee, a11 as prescribed by law.
