That the ownar sha11 comply with a11 City, State and Federal laws in regard to social security, workman's compensation, lien 1aws, etc. , where applicable. 8. That the owner sha11 comply with a11 the safety codes issued by the Florida 2ndustrial C��ssion. 9. State 1aw requires construction to be done by 1ic�sed contractors. You have applied for a permit under an exemption to that law. The exP�ption allows you, as the owner of' your property, te act as your own contsactor with certain restricttons even though you do not have a license. You must provide direct onsite supervision of the corastruction yovrself. You ma.y build or i.mprove a oae-family or two-family resideace or a farm outbuildiag. You may also build or improve a commercial bvilding, provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. The building or residence must be for your own use or occupancy. St may not i�e bui.lt or substantially improved for sale or lease. If you sell or lease a bvilding you have built or substantial.ly improved yourself vtithin 1 year after the constrtiction is complete, the law wi11 pres�e �that you built or substantially improved •if for sale or lease, which is a violation of this ex�ption. You may not hire an unlicerased person to act as your contractor or to supexvise people working on your building. It is your responsibility to make sure that people employed by you have licenses rec�,;red by state law and by county or mu=iicipal licensing ord�siasices. You may not delegate the responsibility f'or supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not. licensed to perform the .vork beixig dnae. Any p@x'son working on your building who is not licensed must work under Zrour direct supervision and must be P�Ployed by you, which means that you must deduct F.=.C.A. and withhold.ing tax and provide workers' compensatioa for that employee, a11 as prescribed by law.
