You have applied for a permit under an �cemptioa to tt�at law. The exemption allows you, as the owner of yovr propErty, to act as your own contractor with certai.n restrictions even though you do not have a licease. You must provide direct onsite supesvision of the const-suction yovrsel£. You may build or improve a one-family or two-family residgnce or a farm outl�uilding. You may also build or improve a commercial bvilding, provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. The building or residance must be for your oarn use or oc.r,.�xpancy. St may not be built or substantially improved for sal.e or lease. If you sell or lease a building you bave built or subst�titially improved yourself within 1 year aftet the construction is complete, the lax will presvme that you built or substantialZy improved �if for sale or laase, which is a violation of this sx�ption. You may not hire an unlicensad person to act as yovr contractor or to supervise people �vorking on yovr buildiag. It is your responsibility to make sure that people employed by you have licenses rei,;red by state law and by county or municipal licerising ordinances. You may not delegate the responsibility for supervisiag work to a licensed contractor who is not. licensed to perform the work beiag dnne. Any parson working on your building who is not licensed must work under your dirsct supe=vision and must be P�Ployed by you, whi.ch means that you must deduct F.I.C.A. and withholding tax and provide workers' compensation for that employee, al1 as prescribed by law.
