The exe�ption allows <br /> you, as the owner of yovr property, to act as your owa contractor with cert==a <br /> restsictions even though you do not have a license. You must provide direct <br /> onsite supervision of the construction yourself. You may build or i�prove a <br /> one-family or two-f'amily residence or a farm outbuilding. You may also build <br /> or improve a commercial buildiag, provided yovs costs do not e�ceed $25,000. <br /> The building or resideace must be for yovr own use or occupancy. It may not <br /> be built or substantially improved for sale or lease. If you se]:l or lease a <br /> bvilding you have built or su2�starttially improved yourself within 1 year after <br /> the constsuction is complete, the laW wi11 prest�e •that you .built or <br /> subst�ntially improved if for sale or lease, which is a violation of this <br /> exemption. You may not hire an vnliceasad person to act as your contractor or <br /> to supervise people working on your buildisig. 2t is your responsibility to <br /> make sure that people employed by you have licenses rei,;red by sta.te law and <br /> by county or muriicipal licensiag ordinances.
