The exemption allows <br /> you, as the owner of your property, to act as your cwn contractor with ce�-=;n <br /> restsictions even though you do not have a license. You must provide direct <br /> onsite supervision of the coastruction yourself. You may bvild or improve a <br /> one-family or two-family residence or a farm outbuilding. You may also build <br /> or ;+�+r*-ove a commercial bvilding, provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. <br /> The building or residsxice must be for yovs own use or occupancy. Zt may not <br /> be built or substantially i�proved for sale or lease. If you ,se.l:l or lease a <br /> bvilding you have built or suUst�ntially improved yourself wittiin 1 year after <br /> the construction is complete, the laW �i.11 pres�e that you built or <br /> substanti.ally improved •if for sale or lease, which is a viclation of this <br /> ax�ption. You may not hire an unlicaased pErson to act as yovr contsactor or <br /> to supervise people �vorking on your buildiag. It is your responsibility to <br /> make sure that people employed by you have licesises rez,;red b,y state law and <br /> by county or municipal licensing ordinaaces. You may not delegate the <br /> responsibility for supervising work to a licensed coatractor who is not. <br /> licensed to perform the �vork being dona.
