You have <br /> applied for a permit under an exemptioa to that law. The exP�ption allows <br /> you, as the owner of' your propPSty, to act as your own contractor with certain <br /> restrictions even though you do not have a license. You must provide direct <br /> onsite supervision of tlze construction yourself. You may build or improve a <br /> one-family or two-family resideace or a farm outbvilding. You ma.y also build <br /> or improve a commercial building, pronided your costs do not exceed $25,000. <br /> The building or.residence must be for yovs own use or occupancy. 2t may not <br /> be built or substantially improved for sale or lease. If you se1:l or lease a <br /> bvilding you have built or substantially i�proved yovrself within 1 year after <br /> the constsuction is complete, the law wi11 presume .that you built or <br /> substantialZy improved if for sale or lease, which is a violation of this <br /> EXemption. You may not hire an unlicesis�d person t� act as your contractor or <br /> to supervise people working on yovr building. It is your responsil�ility to <br /> make sure that people employed by you have licenses rern,;red by state law and <br /> by county or municipal licensing ordinances. You may not delegate the <br /> responsibility for supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not. <br /> licensed to perform the work being done.
