That in the event various phases of construction are subcontracted, he wi11 engage only properly licensed subcontractors and will personally supervise such work. 4. That in the everit the Huilding Inspector sha11 re�,;re corrections to be made, the owner will assume full responsibility �to insure •they are made, and upon compZetion will ca17 for a reinspectioa before proceeding with the building. 5. The exemption allows you, as the owner of your propESty, to act as your own contractor with certaia =estrictians even though you do not have a license. You must .provide direct onsite supervision of the construction yovrself. You may build or improne a oae-family or two-family residaace or a fasm outbuilding. You may also build or improve a co�o�-cial buildiag, provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. The building or residance•must be for your ovon use or occupancy. It may not be built or substantially i�proved for sale or lease. If you se1:1 or lease a building you have built or substantially improved yovrself withi.n 1 yeas after the construction is complete, the lam wi11 presume •that you .built or substantially improved �if for sale or laase, which is a violation of this exemption. You may not hire an unlicansad person to act as your coatractor or to supervise people �vorking on your building. It is your responsibility to make sure that people employed by you have licenses re?,;red by state law and by county or municipal liceasing ordi.aances. You may not delegate the responsi.bility for supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not. licensed to perform the mork beissg dna�. Aay parsoa working on your building who is not licensed must work uncier your direct supervision and must be employed by you, which means that you must deduct F.I.C.A. and withholcling tax and provide workers' comF.�ensation for that employee, a11 as prescribed by law.
