You have <br /> applied for a permit under an exsmption to t�at law. The exemption allows <br /> you, as tlze owner of your propESty, to act as your own coatractor with cert=;T <br /> restrictions even though you do not ha.ve a license. You must provide direct <br /> onsite supervision of the construction yourself. You may build or improve a <br /> one-fam.ily or two-family resideace or a farm outbuilding. You may also build <br /> or i.mprone a commercial bvilding, provided your costs do aot exceed $25,000. <br /> , The building or resideace must be for your own use or occupancy. It may not <br /> be built or substantially �.mproved for sale or lease. If you se1:l or lease a <br /> building you have built or substaatially improved yourself within 1 year after <br /> the construction is complete, the law will presume •that you built or <br /> substantially improved �if for sale or lease, which is a violation of this <br /> ex�ption. You may not hire an ualicaased person to act as your contractor or <br /> t� supervise people working on your building. It is your responssbility to <br /> make sure that people e�played by you have licenses rez+7ired by state 1aw and <br /> by county or municipal liceasing ordinaaces. You may aot delegate the <br /> responsibility for supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not. <br /> licensed to perfo� the work being doae.
