The exemption allows <br /> you, as the owner of your proppsty, to act as your own contsactor with certaia <br /> restrictions even though you do not have a licease. You must provide direct <br /> onsite supesvision of the constsuction yovrself. You may build or improve a <br /> one-family or two-family resideace or a Parm outl�uilding. You may also build <br /> or improve a commercial building, provided your costs do not exceed $25,000. <br /> _ The building or residance must be for yovs own use or occupancy. It may not <br /> be built or substantially a.mproned for sale or lease. If you sel:l or lease a <br /> building you have built or substaritially i�proved yourself within 1 year after <br /> the construction is complete, the law will pres�e •that you bui.lt or <br /> substantially improved �if for sale or laase, which is a violation of this <br /> ex�aption. You may not hire an unlicans�d person to act as your contractor or <br /> to supervise people working on your buildiag. It is your responsability to <br /> make sure t-bat people employed by you l�ave licenses rec�,;red by state law and <br /> by county or municipal liceasing ordiaaaces. You may not delegate the <br /> responsi.bility fo= supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not. <br /> licensed to perform the work being dona.
