The ezemption allows you, as the owner of yovr property, to act as your own contractor with certain restrictions even though you do not ha.ve a license. You must prcvide direct onsite supervision o�' the construction yourself. You may bvild or improve a one-family or twe-family residence or a farm outbuilding. You may also build or improve a commerci.al building, provided yovr costs do not exceed $25,000. The building or residence•must be for yovr own use or oc .cupancy. You may not delegate the responsibility f'or supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not. licensed to perform the work being doaa. Any parson wor3cing on your building who is not licensed must mork und�r your diract supervisicn and must be P�ployed by you, which means that you must deduct E.I.C_A. and withholding tax and provide workers' compPSlsati.on for that �mployee, all. as prescribed by law.
