WINTER GARDEN,FL.34787 (407)920-3119 HERNANDO COUNTY BUILDING DIVISION February 24, 2016 � % PRO TOUCH CONTRACTING SERVICES 4339 WESLEY CHAPEL, FL 33545 RE: INSECT DAMAGE REPAIR FARKAS Residence 37120 Foxrun Place Zephyrhills, FL 33542 ENGINEERING DIRECTION Insect damage was identified in the wood frame walls of the master bathroom and master bedroom at the rear of the Farkas Residence located at 37120 Foxrun Place, Zephyrhills, FL (33542). The identified damage included damage to a number of the 2"X4" wall studs, including the corner studs, jack and king studs supporting the window headers, the window headers and portions of the double 2"X4" top plate as well as some of the %2" exterior wall sheeting. In accordance with the FLORIDA BUILDIfVG CODE 5T" EDITION (2014) EXISTING BUILDINGS, the following classification is established for the repair of this identified insect damage. In accordance with Section . 502.1, the proposed effort "is to be considered a repair". Further, since this structure has not sustained "substantial structural damage" in accordance with Section 404 Repairs, Section (B) 404.4 applies. This section provides that"For damage less than substantial structural damage, repairs shall be allowed that restore the building to its pre-damage state, based on material properties and design strengths applicable at the time of original construction. New structural members and connections used for this repair shall comply with the provisions of FLORIDA BUILDING CODE 5T" EDITION BUILDING for new buildings of similar structure, purpose and location."The following specific steps detail the requirements for the repair of this damaged wood structure. 1 William F, Stuhrke, PhD, P.E.
