FARKAS Residence <br /> 37120 Foxrun Place <br /> Zephyrhills, FL 33542 <br /> February 24, 2016 <br /> ENGINEERING REPAIR DIRECTION <br /> This Engineering Repair Direction provides for the repair of the damaged wall structures <br /> in full compliance with the requirements of the FLORIDA BUILDING CODE 5T" <br /> EDTION (2014), including the FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING, the FLORIDA <br /> BUILDING CODE, RESlDENTIAL and the FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, EXISTING <br /> BUlLDINGS. The following specific directions are provided for the repair and restoration <br /> of the damage identified in the wall structure of the Farkas Residence located at 37120 <br /> Foxrun Place, Zephyrhills, FL (33542). The specific directions are provided relative to <br /> the wall section shown in Attachment"A". <br /> • Shorinq — Prior to demolition of the damaged portions of the exterior bearing <br /> walls, shoring must be provided to insure that the roof and roof structures are <br /> adequately supported during the repair and restoration. <br /> • Demolition — Upon removal of the interior wall covering materials from the <br /> damaged areas of the exterior wall, the full extent of the damaged wood <br /> structures will be identified. All of the structurally damaged wood material is to be <br /> removed and replaced. Based on the preliminary evatuation, this may involve the <br /> removal and replacement of a number of the 2"X4"exterior wall and corner wood <br /> studs, jack and king studs supporting the window headers, the window headers, <br /> sections of the double 2"X4"top plate and the damaged sections of the %" OSB <br /> or '/" CDX Plywood sheeting. The portion of the double 2"X4" top plate, which is <br /> found to have been damaged must be removed in such a manner that the <br /> replacement section of double top plate will be provided with a minimum 16" of <br /> overlap splice. The pressure treated 2"X4" bottom plate is undamaged, however <br /> some additional attachment to the existing concrete foundation structure may be <br /> required. <br /> • Load Bearinq Frame Wall —The schematic load bearing wall structure is shown <br /> in Attachment "B". This attachment should be employed as applicable in the <br /> repair and restoration of the damaged exterior load bearing wall structure. The <br /> required strapping and connectors for the rebuilt and restored bearing walls are <br /> identified in the attachment with capital letters. These or equivalent connectors <br /> must be employed as shown and are documented as follows: <br /> _ 2 <br /> VVilliam F.
