Prepare designation reports for significant historic properties and <br /> districts. <br /> 7. Review National Register Nominations. <br /> 8. Provide information on historic resources to other City departments. <br /> 9. Administer any future historic preservation programs such as an ad <br /> valorem tax exemption program. <br /> 10. Administer any historical marker or certificate program. <br /> 11. Administer Historic Preservation Grants received by the City. <br /> The City of Zephyrhills is a growing community with a unique history. The preservation <br /> community within the City has shown a strong commitment to preserving the City's historical <br /> resources. The Development Department of the City utilizes the history of the city and an <br /> understanding of architectural development as a framework on which to assess the City's <br /> historical resources. To encourage the preservation of historic structures within the City, a <br /> variety of financial incentives are available and the Historic Preservation Division encourages <br /> their use(Appendix I). In addition, the Historic Preservation Division continually evaluates its <br /> programs and activities for effectiveness and responsiveness. The following goals, objectives, <br /> and policies reflect that evaluation process. <br /> GOALS, OBJECTIVES AND POLICIES <br /> GOAL 1.0: IDENTIFICATION AND EVALUATION. The City shall provide for the <br /> continued identification and evaluation of the historic resources. <br /> Objective 1.1: The City shall continue to promote and maintain existing programs that <br /> identify and evaluate historic resources. <br /> Policy 1.1.1: The City will continue pursuing grant funding to update <br /> and expand the original Historic Preservation Survey. <br /> Policy 1.1.2: The City will continue to maintain the Florida Master Site <br /> File by updates, corrections and monitoring of the status of surveyed <br /> properties. <br /> Policy 1.1.3: The City will continue to work with the State Bureau of <br /> Historic Preservation to create a more user-friendly computer database <br /> for Florida Master Site File forms so as to allow government officials <br /> and the public easy access to information on properties on the historic <br /> survey. <br /> Policy 1.1.4: The City will produce a map that identifies all locally <br /> designated properties,historic districts and National Register properties <br /> by 2001 and will be ongoing as properties are listed. <br /> Policy 1.1.5: The City will maintain the adopted criteria set forth in the <br /> Historic Preservation Ordinance for the evaluation of historical resources <br /> that are consistent with the requirements of the Certified Local <br /> Government(CLG)program. <br /> Policy 1.1.6: The City will continue to evaluate its historic resources <br /> for eligibility for nomination to the Zephyrhills Register of Historic <br /> Places and the National Register of Historic Places. <br /> Objective 1.2: The City shall establish a program for the identification and <br /> evaluation of archaeological sites by 2002. <br /> 16 <br />
