oR 5K 5910 PG 14 70 <br /> 23 of 25 <br /> Policy 1.2.1: The City will pursue grant funding for a Phase I <br /> Archaeological Assessment of the entire city by 2002. <br /> Policy 1.2.2: The City will pursue funding for an Archaeological <br /> Resource program should the Phase I Assessment determine it necessary. <br /> GOAL 2.0: RECOGNITION AND REGISTRATION. The City shall continue to provide a <br /> means of formal recognition of significant historic resources and provide for their appropriate <br /> registration at the local, state, or national level. <br /> Objective 2.1: The City will continue to implement a program to formally recognize <br /> historic and archaeological resources that are considered significant according to the <br /> criteria set forth in the Historic Preservation Ordinance(Ord.No. 774-01) <br /> Policy 2.1.1: The City will maintain a local register of <br /> historic buildings, structures, sites, and districts. <br /> Policy 2.1.2: The City will prepare a formal local designation report for . <br /> the downtown historic district(s)upon adoption of the Historic <br /> Preservation Ordinance. <br /> Policy 2.1.3: The City will continue to initiate local designations and <br /> will promote initiation of National Register nominations. <br /> Policy 2.1.4: The City will provide funding for historic street signage <br /> within its historic districts. <br /> Policy 2.1.5: The City will either provide or make available for <br /> purchase plaques and/or certificates for display on buildings or premises <br /> certifying their historic or archaeological significance. <br /> Policy 2.1.6: Through the Development Department and <br /> Historic Preservation Board Staff, the City will continue to provide <br /> technical assistance in the initiation of nominations for properties <br /> eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. <br /> Policy 2.1.7: The City shall work with federal agencies and the State <br /> Division of Historical Resources Compliance and Review Section to <br /> monitor any Section 106-related projects that may impact historic <br /> properties. <br /> Policy 2.1.8: The City shall obtain all reports filed in conjunction with <br /> Section 106 compliance to keep on record in an appropriate location. <br /> Policy 2.1.9: The City shall use any determinations made by the State <br /> Historic Preservation Office to initiate designations either locally or <br /> nationally. <br /> GOAL 3.0: EDUCATION/PUBLIC AWARENESS. The City shall provide for the public <br /> awareness and involvement in the preservation of the City's historic and archaeological <br /> resources. <br /> Objective 3.1: The City shall continue to implement educational programs and create <br /> publications to promote the public awareness about local history,the Historic <br /> Preservation Program, and economic incentives available to foster preservation of <br /> historic resources. <br /> Policy 3.1.1: The City will develop design guidelines by 2002 to assist <br /> the public on the repair and maintenance of buildings,the sensitive <br /> design for additions, alterations,modifications, and new construction in <br /> historic districts. <br /> 17 <br />
