General: Before commencing the work, verify existing conditions at the premises including, but not <br /> limited to, existing structural frame, location and all dimensions; existing openings and characteristics; <br /> existing wall and partition locations, characteristics and relationship to each other; existing mechanical <br /> and electrical work, equipment type, and shall examine all adjoining work on which his work is in anyway <br /> dependent for its perfect efficiency according to the intent of the Contract Documents. <br /> B. Responsibility: No waiver of responsibility for defective and inadequate work or additional cost as a <br /> result of existing conditions which should have been verified shall be considered unless notice of same <br /> has been filed by the Contractor and agreed to in writing by the Engineer/Owner's before the bid date. <br /> C. Site Renovation: The Contractor shall verify and coordinate existing site conduits and pipes at any <br /> excavation on site. Bids to include hand-digging and all required rerouting in areas of existing conduits <br /> and pipes. <br /> 1.10 RENOVATION <br /> A. Renovation: Investigate site thoroughly and reroute all conduit and wiring in the area of new <br /> construction in order to maintain continuity of existing circuitry. Existing conduits shown on plans are <br /> shown with approximate locations only. <br /> B. Power Outage: Special attention is called to the fact that work involved is in connection with existing <br /> buildings which must remain in operation while work is being performed. Work must be done in <br /> accordance with the priority schedule. Schedule work for a minimum outage to Owner. Request written <br /> permission and receive written acceptance from the Owner no later than 24 hours in advance of all <br /> power and communication shut-downs. Perform work required at other than standard working hours <br /> where outages cannot be accepted by Owner during regular working hours. Protect existing buildings <br /> and equipment during construction. <br /> C. Special Considerations: Special attention is called to the fact that there will be piping, fixtures or other <br /> items in the existing building which must be removed or relocated in order to perform the alteration work. <br /> Bid shall include all removal and relocation required for completion of the alterations and the new <br /> construction. <br /> 1.11 SUPERVISION OF THE WORK <br /> A. Supervision: Provide one field superintendent who has had a minimum of four (4) years previous <br /> successful experience on projects of comparable sizes and complexity. The Superintendent shall be <br /> present at all times when work is being performed. The Superintendent shall have passed a proctored <br /> H.H. Block Journeyman Exam with 75% grade or better and shall be a licensed Journeyman. A resume <br /> of the Superintendent's experience shall be submitted to the Engineer before starting work.
