DONNELLY ENGINEERING ELECTRICAL <br /> 2.3 EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, AND SUPPORTS <br /> A. General: Each item of equipment or material shall be manufactured by a company regularly engaged, in <br /> the manufacturer of the type and size of equipment, shall be suitable for the environment in which it is to <br /> be installed, shall be approved for its purpose, environment, and application, and shall bear the UL <br /> label. <br /> B. Installation Requirements: Each item of equipment or material shall be installed in accordance with <br /> instructions and recommendations of the manufacturer, however, the methods shall not be less stringent <br /> than specified herein. <br /> C. Required Accessories: Provide all devices and materials, such as expansion bolts, foundation bolts, <br /> screws, channels, angles, and other attaching means, required to fasten enclosures, conduits, and other <br /> electrical equipment and materials to be mounted on structures which are existing or new. <br /> D. Protection: Electrical equipment shall at all times during construction be adequately protected against <br /> mechanical injury or damage by the elements. Equipment shall be stored in securely locked dry <br /> permanent-shelters. If apparatus has been damaged, such damage shall be repaired at no additional <br /> cost or time extension to the Contract. If apparatus has been subject to possible injury, it shall be <br /> thoroughly cleaned, dried out and put through tests as directed by the Manufacturer and Engineer, or <br /> shall be replaced, if directed by the Engineer, at no additional cost to the Contract. <br /> 2.4 IDENTIFICATION OF EQUIPMENT <br /> A. General: All electrical items shall be identified as specified in the Contract Documents. Such <br /> identification shall be in addition to the manufacturer's nameplates and shall serve to identify the item's <br /> function and the equipment or system which it serves or controls. Refer to Identification Section of the <br /> specifications for additional information. <br /> 2.5 SURFACE MOUNTED EQUIPMENT <br /> A. General: Surface mounted fixtures, outlets, cabinets, panels, etc. shall have a factory applied finish or <br /> shall be painted as accepted by Engineer. All conduits and fittings, where allowed to be installed surface <br /> mounted, shall be painted to match the finish on which it was installed. Paint shall be in accordance <br /> with other applicable sections of these specifications. Refer to additional specifications note herein, <br /> regarding conduit, boxes, etc. <br /> 2.6 CUTTING AND PATCHING <br /> A. Core Drilling: The Contractor shall be responsible for all core drilling as required for work under this <br /> section, but in no case shall the Contractor cut into or weld onto any structural element of the project <br /> without the written approval of the Engineer. <br /> B. Cutting and Patching: All cutting, rough patching and finish patching shall be provided as specified in <br /> the contract documents. All cutting and patching shall be performed in a neat and workmanlike manner. <br /> C. Openings and Sleeves: Locate all openings required for work performed under this section. Provide <br /> sleeves, guards or other accepted methods to allow passage of items installed under this section. <br /> D. Roof Penetration: Provide roofer with all pitch pans, fittings, etc., required for electrical items which <br /> penetrate the roof.
