General: Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary <br /> Conditions and Division 1 Specification sections, apply to work specified of this section. <br /> 1.2 DESCRIPTION <br /> A. General: Outlet boxes shall be of such form and dimensions as to be adapted to the specific use and <br /> location, type of device or fixtures to be used, and number and size of conductors and arrangement, <br /> size and number of conduits connecting thereto. All boxes shall be one piece only. <br /> B. Ceiling Size: Ceiling outlet boxes shall be 4 inch octagonal or 4 inch square by 1-1/2 inches deep or <br /> larger as required for number and size of conductors, conductor arrangement, conductor sizes and <br /> the number of conduits terminating at the box. <br /> C. Wall Size: Switch, wall receptacle, telephone and other wall outlet boxes in drywall shall be one <br /> piece only 4 inch square by 1-1/2 inches deep. For exposed masonry, provide recessed one piece:4 <br /> inch square by 1-1/2 inches deep wall boxes with appropriate 4 inches square cut tile wall covers <br /> Steel City series #52-C-49/52-C-52 or accepted substitution. For furred-out block walls, provide 4 <br /> inch square box with required extension for block depth and required extension for drywall depth. <br /> 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Qualifications: Manufacturers shall be regularly engaged in the manufacture of conduit systems and <br /> fittings of types and sizes required, and whose products have been in satisfactory use in similar <br /> service for not less than 5 years in the USA. All boxes shall be manufactured in the USA. <br /> B. Compliance: Materials shall comply with the following standards as they apply to the different <br /> raceway types specified herein. <br /> 1. UL-50 & UL-514 <br /> 2. NEC 70 <br /> 1.4 SPECIAL PURPOSE OUTLETS <br /> B. Location: Locate special purpose outlets as indicated on the drawings for the equipment served. <br /> Location and type of outlets shall be coordinated with appropriate trades involved. The securing of <br /> complete information for proper electrical roughing-in shall be included as work required under this <br /> section of specifications. <br /> r <br /> PART 2-PRODUCTS <br /> I <br /> 2.1 GENERAL PURPOSE BOXES <br /> A. General: Provide standard galvanized one-piece steel outlet boxes at all concealed outlets for <br /> electric lights, switches, convenience receptacles, telephone outlets, etc. No multi piece boxes are <br /> allowed. Acceptable manufacturers shall be T&B, Steel City, Raco. Surface outlet boxes and conduit <br /> bodies shall be the heavy cast aluminum or iron with external raised hubs - Appleton, Crouse Hinds <br /> or Steel City or accepted substitution.
