DONNELLY ENGINEERING ELECTRICAL <br /> PART2 -PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 GROUNDING CONDUCTORS <br /> A. General: Provide UL or NRTL approved types of copper with THWN, THHN, or XHHW with green <br /> insulation. NEC to code requirements shall be applicable to types utilized. <br /> 2.2 GROUND RODS <br /> A. General: Provide copperclad steel, 3/4 inch diameter by 10 feet long ground rods. Service ground <br /> rods and exterior ground rods shall be 30 feet deep minimum. Where additional ground rod locations <br /> supplement the ground rod location from each other, the supplemental locations shall be located not <br /> less than the ground rod depth. Two thirty feet rod locations must be thirty feet apart and <br /> exothermically connected by a full rated ground conductor size. <br /> PART 3 - INSTALLATION <br /> 3.1 GENERAL <br /> A. Installation: Grounding conductors shall be so installed as follows; <br /> 1. Installed to permit shortest and most direct path from equipment to ground <br /> 2. Shall be installed in metal conduit with both conductor and conduit bonded at each end <br /> 3. Have connections accessible for inspection and made with accepted solderless connectors to <br /> the equipment or structure to be grounded <br /> 4. Shall in NO case be a current carrying conductor <br /> 5. Shall have a green jacket <br /> 6. Shall have exothermic connections at ground rods <br /> B. Connections: The main grounding electrode conductor shall be exothermically welded to ground <br /> rods and clamped to the water pipe or valve with a listed clamp. A listed clamp connection shall also <br /> be provided for the fire protection piping and each piping system. A welded plate shall be provided at <br /> building steel.
