SECTION 23 05 93 -TESTING, ADJUSTING AND BALANCING <br /> PART 1 -GENERAL <br /> 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS <br /> A. The requirements set forth in the Bidding Requirements and the Contractual Conditions of <br /> Division 01 shall apply to this Section. <br /> B. Examine other sections of the Project Manual for requirements which affect work of this section <br /> whether or not such work is specifically mentioned in this section. <br /> 1.2 SUMMARY STATEMENT <br /> A. Test and balance of HVAC systems (both heating and cooling) and air exhaust systems shall be <br /> performed by an independent AABC or NEBB certified test and balance agency. Acceptable <br /> Agencies in the Tampa Bay Region include: Southern Independent Testing, Inc., The Phoenix <br /> Agency, Test and Balance Corporation, Pro-Tech Diversified Services, Inc., and SpecTech <br /> Consultants, Inc. <br /> B. The Contractor and the Test and Balance Agency, shall coordinate all work required so that the <br /> test and balance work is complete and the final report delivered one week prior to the scheduled <br /> Substantial Completion date. The Test and Balance Agency shall be at the site with his test <br /> equipment during the Substantial Completion Inspection so that random report values may be <br /> verified. <br /> C. Test and balance work shall not begin until all systems have been completed and are in full <br /> working order. Place all systems and equipment into full operation during each working day of <br /> testing and balancing. <br /> 1.3 DESCRIPTION OF WORK <br /> A. Extent of testing, adjusting and balancing work is indicated by requirements of this section, and <br /> also by drawings and schedules, and is defined to include, but is not necessarily limited to, air <br /> distribution systems, hydronic distribution systems and associated equipment and apparatus of <br /> mechanical work. The work consists of setting speed and volume (flow), adjusting facilities <br /> provided for systems, recording data, conducting tests, measuring temperature and humidity <br /> throughout the facility, preparing and submitting reports and recommending modifications to work <br /> as required by contract documents. <br /> B. Component types of testing, adjusting and balancing specified in this section includes the <br /> following, but not limited to, as applied to mechanical equipment: <br /> Fans <br /> Air Conditioning units <br /> Air Handling Units <br /> Ductwork systems <br /> C. Testing and balancing shall be begun and completed during each season, heating and cooling; <br /> i.e. cooling system during the cooling season and heating system during the heating season. All <br /> systems shall be tested and balanced under full load conditions and a report submitted. <br /> 1. The HVAC system shall be started, operated and stopped to determine that it operates <br /> according to the design specifications and sequence of operations.
