0 •F ..
DUPLEX PUMP CONTROL PANEL - pg 2
9. DUPLEXOR Level Control System -Intrinsically Safe Low Voltage-5 volt DC operation
The level control system shall be a 12 pin,plug-in, field replaceable solid-state device. The DUPLEXOR
shall ALTERNATE PUMPS and include (2) H-O-A(Hand-Off-Automatic) switches, LED indicating lights
for each pump and 4 float switches. The DUPLEXOR shall have a lead-lag alternator selector switch and
alternator test switch.
The DUPLEXOR is an intrinsically safe level control system provided to start, stop and alternate pumps in
response to the wet well liquid level. On a falling liquid level, the lowest float switch(FSI-PUMP OFF)
shall close, locking the pumps into a common"pumps off'. As the liquid level rises, the second float switch
(FS2-PUMP ON) shall close at the "lead pump on"level. The controller will automatically alternate and
select the lead pump. Should the liquid level continue to rise faster than one pump can handle, the third float
switch(FS3-LAG/BOTH PUMP ON) shall close at the "lag pump on"level starting the lag pump. As the
pumps run, lowering the liquid level, the sensor switches shall open in reverse order. The fourth float switch
(FS4-HIGH WATER ALARM) shall activate only if the liquid level continues to rise, causing both the
audible alarm and the light(visual) alarms to activate.
The duplexor shall provide for time delay starting of the lag pump-preventing both pumps from starting at
the exact same time. This feature prevents an amp rush that could cause a nuisance trip.
In the event of a float switch failure-the DUPLEXOR shall provide operation to keep the pump station from
overflowing by operating on any (2)float switches.
10. Battery Back Up (BBU) (OPTIONAL)-iVwhen required by local DEP or regulatory agency ..
A 12-volt Battery Operated Alarm Charging(BOAC) system will activate when there is a power outage to
the panel. During normal operation the BOAC system maintains a charge on the 12-volt battery. In a power
outage, the battery operates a strobe light and horn signal for up to 24 hours. The alarm silence button will
silence the horn and the strobe light shall stay on until the power is restored.
11. Miscellaneous
Weatherproof schematic wiring diagram shall be permanently affixed to enclosure door. Terminal blocks
shall be located far enough away from the enclosure side(s)to permit convenient connection of incoming
wires per N.E.C. code.
F/FS/TSCV/ST/38DFGPane1
Rev 7/04 pg2
