(b) Standpipe Systems shall be either Class I or <br />Class III and the Sprinkler and Standpipe may be <br />combined. <br />6. Automatic Fire Alarm; Supression System; <br />Smoke/Heat Detectors; Manual Pull Stations; and Visual <br />A1arms. <br />(a) All four and five story buildings shall have an <br />automatic fire alarm system. <br />(b) Smoke/Heat Detectors shall be located in each <br />unit, each guest and living unit, each hazard area, each <br />unoccupied storage area, and one for each 30 feet of <br />hallways and corridors or a part thereof. <br />(c) The automatic fire alarm, smoke/heat detectors, <br />manual pull stations, sprinkler systems and other types <br />of supression systems shall be tied into a central system <br />that when any part of the central system is activated, it <br />will sound an audible alarm in every portion of the <br />building and visual fire alarms will indicate an <br />emergency in all halls, corridors, and in all guest and <br />living units to notify the deaf and hearing impaired. <br />(d) The central fire alarm system shall be tied <br />into an announciator panel located in an area that would <br />be a normal entrance to the building by firefighters. <br />(e) All parts of the central system shall be <br />installed and maintained as per the NFPA number that <br />pertains t . that part and requirements of the SBC. <br />7. Elevators & Firemen Service. <br />(a) All four and five story buildings shall have <br />at least one elevator with full firemen service. <br />(b) Section 506.6 of the SBC shall apply to <br />elevators in four and five story buildings. <br />8.
