<br />2.2 CABINET HARDWARE AND ACCESSORY MATERIALS

<br />B. Exposed Hardware Finishes: Comply with BHMA Al 56.18 for BHMA code number indicated.
<br />C. Furring, Blocking, Shims, and Hanging Strips: Fire -retardant -treated lumber, kiln dried to 1 5 percent moisture content.

<br />2.3 INTERIOR WOODWORK
<br />A. Complete fabrication to maximum extent possible before shipment to Project site. Disassemble components only as necessary for shipment and
<br />installation. Where necessary for fitting at site, provide ample allowance for scribing, trimming, and fitting.
<br />B. Backout or groove backs of flat trim members and kerf backs of other wide, flat members, except for members with ends exposed in finished work.
<br />C. Interior Standing and Running Trim for Transparent Finish: Custom grade, species as indicated.
<br />D. Interior Standing and Running Trim for Opaque Finish: Custom grade, made from any closed -grain hardwood.
<br />E. Interior Ornamental Work for Transparent Finish: Custom grade, made from species as indicated.

<br />2.4 SHOP FINISHING OF INTERIOR ARCHITECTURAL WOODWORK
<br />A. Finishes: Same grades as items to be finished.
<br />B. Finish architectural woodwork at the fabrication shop; defer only final touch up until after installation.
<br />1. Apply one coat of sealer or primer to concealed surfaces of woodwork.
<br />2. Apply two coats to back of paneling and to end -grain surfaces.
<br />3. Apply a vinyl wash coat to woodwork made from closed -grain wood before staining and finishing.
<br />4. After staining, if any, apply paste wood filler to open -grain woods and wipe off excess. Tint filler to match stained wood.
<br />C. Transparent Finish: AW finish system conversion varnish.
<br />PART 3 - EXECUTION
<br />3.1 INSTALLATION
<br />A. Before installation, condition woodwork to average prevailing humidity conditions in installation areas.
<br />B. Install woodwork to comply with referenced quality standard for grade specified.
<br />C. Install woodwork level, plumb, true, and straight. Shim as required with concealed shims. Install level and plumb (including tops) to a tolerance
<br />of 1/8 inch in 96 inches.
<br />D. Scribe and cut woodwork to fit adjoining work, refinish cut surfaces, and repair damaged finish at cuts.
<br />E. Anchor woodwork to anchors or blocking built in or directly attached to substrates. Fasten with countersunk concealed fasteners and blind nailing.
<br />Use fine finishing nails for exposed nailing, countersunk and filled flush with woodwork.
<br />F. Standing and Running Trim: Install with minimum number of joints possible, using full-length pieces (from maximum length of lumber available) to
<br />greatest extent possible. Do not use pieces less than 36 inches long, except where shorter single -length pieces are necessary. Scarf running joints
<br />and stagger in adjacent and related members.
<br />G. Anchor paneling to supports with concealed panel -hanger clips and by blind nailing on back-up strips, splined-connection strips, and similar
<br />associated trim and framing.
<br />H. Cabinets: Install so doors and drawers are accurately aligned. Adjust hardware to center doors and drawers in openings and to provide
<br />unencumbered operation.
<br />1. Fasten wall cabinets through back, near top and bottom, at ends and not more than 16 inches o.c. with [No. 1 0 wafer -head sheet metal screws
<br />through metal backing or metal framing behind wall finish.
<br />1. Anchor countertops securely to base units. Seal space between backsplash and wall.

<br />3.1 EXAMINATION
<br />A. Examine substrates and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements of Sections in which substrates and related work are specified
<br />and to determine if other conditions affecting performance of insulation are satisfactory. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been
<br />corrected.
<br />3.2 PREPARATION i
<br />A. Clean substrates of substances harmful to insulation.
<br />3.3 INSTALLATION, GENERAL
<br />A. Comply with insulation manufacturers written instructions applicable to products and application indicated.
<br />B. Install insulation that is undamaged, dry, and unsoiled
<br />C. Extend insulation in thickness indicated to envelop entire area to be insulated. Cut and fit tightly around obstructions and fill voids with insulation. Remove
<br />projections that interfere with placement.
<br />D. Apply single layer of insulation to produce thickness indicated, unless multiple layers are otherwise shown or required to make up total thickness. i
<br />3.4 INSTALLATION OF INSULATION
<br />A. General: Apply insulation types specified to substrates indicated, complying with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.
<br />B. Install blanket insulation in cavities formed by framing members according to the following requirements:
<br />1. Use blanket widths and lengths that fill the cavities formed by framing members. If more than one length is required to fill cavity, provide lengths thatwill
<br />produce a snug fit between ends.
<br />2. Place blankets in cavities formed by framing members to produce a friction fit between edges of insulation and adjoining framing members.
<br />3. For metal -framed wall cavities where cavity heights exceed 96 inches, support unfaced blankets mechanically.
<br />4. Do not force or compact insulation into stud cavity.
<br />3.5 PROTECTION
<br />A. General: Protect installed insulation from damage due to harmful weather exposures, physical abuse, and other causes. Provide temporary coverings or
<br />enclosures where insulation is subject to abuse and cannot be concealed and protected by permanent construction immediately after installation.

<br />PART 3 - EXECUTION
<br />3.1 EXAMINATION
<br />A. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Applicator present, for compliance with requirements for paint application. Comply with procedures
<br />specified in PDCA P4.
<br />1. Proceed with paint application only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected and surfaces receiving paint are thoroughly dry.
<br />B. Coordination of Work: Review other Sections in which primers are provided to ensure compatibility of the total system for various substrates. On
<br />request, furnish information on characteristics of finish materials to ensure use of compatible primers. Notify Architect about anticipated problems when
<br />using the materials specified over substrates primed by others.
<br />3.2 PREPARATION
<br />A. General: Remove hardware and hardware accessories, plates, machined surfaces, lighting fixtures, and similar items already installed that are not to
<br />be painted. If removal is impractical or impossible because of size or weight of the item, provide surface -applied protection before surface preparation and
<br />painting. After completing painting operations in each space or area, reinstall items removed using workers skilled in the trades involved.
<br />B. Cleaning: Before applying paint or other surface treatments, clean substrates of substances that could impair bond of the various coatings. Remove oil
<br />and grease before cleaning.
<br />C. Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted according to manufacturers written instructions for each particular substrate condition
<br />and as specified.
<br />D. Material Preparation: Mix and prepare paint materials according to manufacturer's written instructions.
<br />E. Tinting: Tint each undercoat a lighter shade to simplify identification of each coat when multiple coats of same material are applied. Tint undercoats to
<br />match the color of the finish coat, but provide sufficient differences in shade of undercoats to distinguish each separate coat.
<br />3.3 APPLICATION
<br />A. General: Apply paint according to manufacturer's written instructions. Use applicators and techniques best suited for substrate and type of material
<br />being applied.
<br />1. Paint colors, surface treatments, and finishes are indicated in the paint schedules.
<br />2. Do not paint over dirt, rust, scale, grease, moisture, scuffed surfaces, or conditions detrimental to formation of a durable paint film.
<br />3. Provide finish coats that are compatible with primers used.
<br />4. The term "exposed surfaces" includes areas visible when permanent or built-in fixtures, grilles, convector covers, covers for finned -tube radiation, and
<br />similar components are in place. Extend coatings in these areas, as required, to maintain system integrity and provide desired protection.
<br />5. Paint surfaces behind movable equipment and furniture the same as similar exposed surfaces. Before final installation of equipment, paint surfaces
<br />behind permanently fixed equipment or furniture with prime coat only.
<br />6. Paint interior surfaces of ducts with a flat, nonspecular black paint where visible through registers or grilles.
<br />7. Paint back sides of access panels and removable or hinged covers to match exposed surfaces.
<br />8. Finish exterior doors on tops, bottoms, and side edges the same as exterior faces.
<br />B. Scheduling Painting: Apply first coat to surfaces that have been cleaned, pretreated, or otherwise prepared for painting as soon as practicable after
<br />preparation and before subsequent surface deterioration. A minimum of one prime coat and two finish coats is required.
<br />1. The number of coats and film thickness required are the same regardless of application method. Do not apply succeeding coats until previous coat
<br />has cured as recommended by manufacturer. If sanding is required to produce a smooth, even surface according to manufacturers written instructions,
<br />sand between applications.
<br />2. Allow sufficient time between successive coats to permit proper drying.
<br />C. Application Procedures: Apply paints and coatings by brush, roller, spray, or other applicators according to manufacturer's written instructions.
<br />D. Minimum Coating Thickness: Apply paint materials no thinner than manufacturer's recommended spreading rate to achieve dry film thickness indicated.
<br />E. Completed Work: Match approved samples for color, texture, and coverage. Remove, refinish, or repaint work not complying with requirements.
<br />3.4 CLEANING
<br />A. Cleanup: At the end of each workday, remove empty cans, rags, rubbish, and other discarded paint materials from Project site.
<br />1. After completing painting, clean glass and paint -spattered surfaces. Remove spattered paint by washing and scraping without scratching or damaging
<br />adjacent finished surfaces.
<br />3.5 PROTECTION
<br />A. Protect work of other trades, whether being painted or not, against damage from painting. Correct damage by cleaning, repairing or replacing, and
<br />repainting, as approved by Architect.

<br />2. Provide factory -drilled mounting holes.
<br />3. Prepare doors and frames to receive locks.
<br />4. Install door locks at factory.
<br />B. Cabinet Doors: Fabricate doors according to manufacturer's standards, from materials indicated and coordinated with cabinet types and trim style
<br />selected.
<br />1. Fabricate door frames with tubular stiles and rails and hollow -metal design, minimum 1/2 inch thick.
<br />2. Miter and weld perimeter door frames.
<br />C. Cabinet Trim: Fabricate cabinet trim in one piece with corners mitered, welded, and ground smooth.
<br />2.4 GENERAL FINISH REQUIREMENTS
<br />A. Comply with NAAMM's "Metal Finishes Manual for Architectural and Metal Products" for recommendations for applying and designating finishes.
<br />B. Protect mechanical finishes on exposed surfaces of fire protection cabinets from damage by applying a strippable, temporary protective covering
<br />before shipping.
<br />C. Finish fire protection cabinets after assembly.
<br />D. Appearance of Finished Work: Noticeable variations in same piece are not acceptable. Variations in appearance of adjoining components are
<br />acceptable if they are within the range of approved Samples and are assembled or installed to minimize contrast.
<br />PART 3 - EXECUTION
<br />3.1 EXAMINATION
<br />A. Examine walls and partitions for suitable framing depth and blocking where recessed cabinets will be installed.
<br />B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
<br />3.2 INSTALLATION
<br />A. General: Install fire protection cabinets in locations and at mounting heights indicated or, if not indicated, at heights acceptable to
<br />authorities having jurisdiction.
<br />B. Fire Protection Cabinets: Fasten cabinets to structure, square and plumb.
<br />1. Unless otherwise indicated, provide recessed fire protection cabinets. If wall thickness is not adequate for recessed cabinets, provide
<br />semirecessed fire protection cabinets.
<br />2. Provide inside latch and lock for break -glass panels.
<br />3. Fasten mounting brackets to inside surface of fire protection cabinets, square and plumb.
<br />C. Identification: Vertical lettering.
<br />3.3 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
<br />A. Remove temporary protective coverings and strippable films, if any, as fire protection cabinets are installed unless otherwise indicated in
<br />manufacturer's written installation instructions.
<br />B. Adjust fire protection cabinet doors to operate easily without binding. Verify that integral locking devices operate properly.
<br />C. Touch up marred finishes, or replace fire protection cabinets that cannot be restored to factory -finished appearance. Use only materials and
<br />procedures recommended or furnished by fire protection cabinet and mounting bracket manufacturers.
<br />D. Replace fire protection cabinets that have been damaged or have deteriorated beyond successful repair by finish touchup or similar minor
<br />repair
